Hey guys,

I found a video online which shows cabin filter behind the glove box vertically installed on top of each other but cannot find it. Can someone tell me where it might be in this model?

I was told my 04 didnt have one.

Looks like the video i saw was from LX470.

Researching here on the forum i feel someone mentioned that some models have this inbuilt. Can someone confirm because I definitely dont have that slot open where you install these in LX470. So does it mean it is inbuilt? must be terribly dirty after 10 years?

Toyota Land Cruiser cabin air filter location

There is a thread in the FAQs on this that shows the location, both with and without the filter slot. My '04 didn't have the filter slot and cover, so I added them using the info in the thread. I thought all LX have the filters, but only later model LC.

Cabin air filter conversion - LC100 to LX470

If your truck has the filters, they can and should be changed at least yearly.

Yeah this first picture is exactly how my filter housing looks like. Got my new filters today and was happily removing the glove box and next thing i saw no cut-out for the filter. How cool is that!

Can you just buy the full filter housing and replace it with one that has the cut out? which model will be compatible? LX470 or 07LC?

How about me cutting the housing with a hot hobby knife and making a slot myself in the existing housing?

You can even cut out the opening on the front Plate for the Slot cover, I used Drill and File to make that work, but you still need to get the Slot Cover.

i'd order the parts reference. I used tparts123.com to order the parts it's cheap and i use the website for replacement parts versus going to your local toyota and paying high prices. plus you don't have to negotiate then. shipping is slow but its not a big deal! Check it out and shoot me a message with any questions. Getting the old evap cooler cover off and the new one on is tricky but totally doable!

I just ordered this. Thank you for the reference w parts numbers. I have an 03 w/o the filter option and the South is currently covered in thick, yellow pollen...this should help!

All you need is the small filter door, the 2 filters, and a Dremel. Using the info in the FAQ thread, you can easily cut out the opening in the AC housing behind the glove box. You don't need to remove the AC housing cover. I did it in about an hour, counting removing and installing the stuff in the way.

HVAC small door for cabin filters 88891-60050: $16.00
Cabin filters 88568-60010 (2)

Oh, and vacuum cleaner to clean up the mess!

Or just change the cover its $20 lol

Thanks looks like all you need is to replace the front plate and use the one with a filter door.

I have an 07 that had the solid cover. Pulled it off and put the cover with slot on it, and voila.

Follow the FAQ. I believe every LC can be converted to have this.

Glad I did this year. Pollen in Central Tx is crazy from all the rain we've been finally blessed with.
