Looks like I might need new cats. Went in for smog test Friday and it's throwing a Cat code. I've heard the nightmares about replacing these in CA, specifically the cost. What are the current options out there? My local shop gave an estimate of $1300 installed if I pay cash. Good deal? Bad deal?

This is what i bought but it was a few years back. MagnaFlow California Grade CARB Compliant Universal Catalytic Converte - https://www.magnaflow.com/products/447206-catalytic-converter-magnaflow-california-grade-carb-compliant-universal-catalytic-converter. they cost more but what i've been told the ca ones have more of the catalyst in them. I do not know if it is true, that's just what i was told.I know the cats have gone up in the last 6 months had to purchase a new one for my buick and it went from 600 bucks installed at xmass to 900. installed in July. so the price they gave you seems like its about right for Ca.
