Hey guys,
Im demsogged on me FJ60, and my BVSV are letting out a very very very small amount off coolant out of the rubber vacuum caps I have on (they are good quality caps too). I was told even a pinhole coolant leak can cause issues. it doesnt drip it just has a little moisture around cap.

Do people just take the BVSVs out and repalce them with caps? Felt like I saw that once. If so, where can I get some? (see photo of what I was thinking, air rail plug for ref.)

Much appreciated

It's physically impossible for BVSVs to leak out of the vacuum ports, the air passages have zero connection to the coolant. The end of the BVSV that screws into the thermostat housing is solid brass - it is essentially its own plug. I would suspect the coolant is coming from elsewhere and finding its way to the caps, possibly from the threads of the BVSV (they need a bit of thread sealant, and new BVSVs have that pre-coated from the factory - it's green), from where the two halves of the thermostat housing come together, from one of the thermostat housing bolts, etc.

Edit: Caveat to this is if somebody drilled a hole in the brass plug end of the BVSV ... but why the heck would anyone do that? Never say never I guess.
