I picked up this ‘72 FJ40 last year from a member here in the Mud classifieds. It’s been an absolute blast to drive and wanted to detail all the mods that have been done by the PO’s and any future mods. She hauls ass and has been an absolute pleasure to drive.

The details:
350 SBC from late 70’s Corvette with the Quadrajet four barrel carb, rams horn exhaust manifolds.
SM 465 transmission mated to the oem transfer case

Four plus rear tire rack.
Maxxis 33x10.5 MT’s on new oem rims and hubcaps.
New oem bumpers
Saginaw power steering
Front disc brakes
New clutch master
New brake booster and master
New aftermarket gauges
Rear auxiliary gas tank
New body mounts
LED headlights

The frame has been refinished at some point and new oem body mounts were added. Rides really nice and not too many rattles. Body has the aluminum diamond plates in the rear but there seems to be very little rust overall. I have to admit the diamond plate make the look of this mad max style beast so I don’t plan to remove them. The paint is not original and not well done, lol, but it has a nice patina.

The only work I’ve done is change the oil and flush and fill the coolant. I used Mobil one 10-30 and seems to not leak any oil so far. The coolant was a different story. Had to flush several times to get the gunk out but she has always held temp.

That's one long legged chicken!! 😆

I lost my 202 valve 283 engine but I still have the bell housing adapter and the 4sp/transfer case. I really wanted to build a 283 Vette motor for the easy RPM's.

Took the doors off and replaced with the canvas half doors. Half of the rattles went away and is very quiet. The doors don’t lock so I can’t lean on them without them popping open, just have to be conscious of the danger also will be using the lap belt just in case.
