Octavio62,

It takes about an hour to cook 2 smokies tripple wraped in foil on top of the pipes 12 inches from the manafold and about 2 hours to heat up a serving of lasagna in a foil takeout pan.

That is an awsome size, you could bake bread in that thing.

I would make one development mod and that would be a series of holes (2-3 inch with a hole saw) along the hot face beside the manifold, to let hot air in and sliding covers so that you can control the temperature. I have found it varies quite a bit between highway speed and wheeling speed, long hills cook things fast, and the temperature outside makes some difference to.

I would take one but I moved my O2 sensors up to the bungs on my manifolds (1993) and they are in the way.

I can see the Faq updates now:

- Removing burritos from radiator grill
- Tamale spill and your wiring harness
- Did my HG fail because of prolonged enchilada cooking near my head.?
:D

LOL. I just blew coffee all over my keyboard. You guys suck.

I'm in for a 3F-E cooker.

I would love to get one for my 3FE. Do you have any pics of it yet?

Box is steel, and has been around for many years, most people use an old ammo box on the mini trucks, in regards to the paint, paint is on the outside and should not really affect much. The inside is just metal. I was thinking that if you add water and a metal mesh it could make a mean steamer. The 3fe version will be a lot smaller and its on the works, will require a lot of thinking to build this one. Will post it as soon as its done.

funny shiat!

An excellent idea!

I'm planning on building something like this as well... However, mine will look a lot more Redneck to match the rest of my 80! :flipoff2:

Im sure it will have plenty of dents and dings...... I would suggest using 1/4" plate for your burrito box sliders.......:D

Fantastic.. We used to run things called Hot Doggers on our snowmachines when I lived in Alaska. Nothing like a piping hot burrito, cheese burger, etc. during an epic day of powder. It was made out of aluminum and bolted right to the Can (exhaust manifold)

I have seen the idea of foil wrapping a chicken and tying in to the manifold before but never a custom made box, I think it is a great idea.......perhaps another gauge on the dash so you can keep an eye on oven temperatures oh and a timer would be a particularly good idea with a little bell:D

My only concern is making sure no oil dripped onto the manifold or you could end up doing your marshmallows on a LC 80 barbecue:frown:

regards

Dave

Hey, Octavio, I want some royalties on this thing! Or maybe I'll just work on the cookbook now ...

Let's see, so far I've got burritos, steamed veggies, next up is margarita shrimp

OK, so the 3FE version needs a port for a meat thermometer and a small drain port for grease that can have a tube attached similar to the condensate drain on the evaporator coil. I would also like a latch to keep the oven door closed for better temp control. I am looking into wireless meat thermometers that can be modified for 12VDC (any can be made to work with a small external regulator) or wired ones that are long enough to be routed through the firewall.
