Just a quick question I final found the problem with my headlight being non functional it was a connector was taped to the back side of the wire harness behind the cluster on the right side of the steering column. The question I have is how do I fix it?

Wonky website, but these guys should have the replacement connector: http://www.vintageconnections.com/

Slightly more complicated than that, though—you're going to have to find the ground fault or the overloaded circuit. Start with any aftermarket add-ons and go from there.

I had the exact same problem, same connector burnt up. The 4wd indicator switch on the transfer case with the blue plug has 2 wires that the insulation had deteriorated off. They shorted out when they got wet, I unplugged it until I could get a new indicator switch, I cut off the connector and replaced it with one off another truck. Hope that helps..

Here's a pic of mine from about ten years ago when I had the same headlight issue. If I remember correctly I simply cleaned it up and separated the burnt end terminals away from the rest (but still attached) and resoldered and reinsulated them, and then wrapped the whole business in electrical tape. It has been fine ever since. I think the connector block is underspeced for having the headlight power pass through it. One thing you could do once you've repaired it is to install a relay for the headlights to reduce the amount of current passing though this block.
