Hi All,

I soon will become the happy owner of a double cab landcruiser with the 6 cyl diesel engine.

Does anyone have websites with bumpers for sale.
Pictures of custom bumpers etc..
Custom work done on them and upgrades.
roofracks, boats on their roofs, on 33's or 35's etc.

Also,

The stock tires are 225/95R16 or about 32x8.5R16

I want to replace these with 34x9.5R16 ss narrow interco tires.
My mind is very set to them but Id like to hear about the pros and cons from some other folks as well.

Might want to check out the LCool forum, haven't really been any dual cab guys kicking around here.

Post up a shot of your rig.
I would love to have access to those. I could really use a tray or box.

the vehicle will arrive here in 2 weeks so no pics yet.

thanks for the advice for another website, I will have a look.

nice to meet u mate, u will be the first in Suriname with double cab landcruiser. congrats!!

I heard there is already one double cab in Suriname but have not seen it in person yet.

There are very few options for just plain old buy and place bumpers for the 70 series, it looks as if there are more for the 30 year old 40's

Cicak, your bumper is nice, I assume also locally made.

I was thinking about something like that, make sidesteps and connect them to the bumper.

I still cant beleve there are few newer model 70 series owners on mud.

Its a shame USA does not get the 70 series.
Im sure it can be arranged some how.
It is something worth fighting for and gathering people and write toyota etc etc.

the 70 series are pricey, and new is pure passion if one would buy.
to spent that amount of $ u have lots of choices to make, e.g. Hilux, D-max,
i think thats the main reason regular people dont buy 70 series.

i consider to buy an double cab also next year.. is yours brand new ??

ummm, LD 70s share a lot of the same parts as the Hilux so i will disagree with your assessment of inferior.
i dislike them both the same.
now HD 70 vrs the Hilux and i agree completely with your assessment.

Ifs vs live axle no comparison.
Ifs is totally inferior in jungle to live axle ld70s will run rings around a hilux over all terrain except side slopes on a swb 70. Do not mention the 2LT motor in both. Original hilux ok. But sr5 model onwards omg.

Hiluxs so low they belly drag everywhere.
Hilux cv joint so weak on live axle or ifs seen so many break.

in the past i would have agreed with you but after wheeling with a 100 series in the club, i have to say ... pretty damn impressive off road.

Haha live axle or ifs.

I rescued one last year busted front prop shaft just snapped. Rescued by the blue lj79. Ifs too low but capable truck

Ifs vs solid, lots of stuff to talk about....

I have seen a totally suped up tacoma stuck in a simple rut.
But it does fly over very bumpy trails.

Landcruisers are not expensive but cost alot of money. There is a differnce.:hhmm:
If you put it to work it wil actually make you money.

hilux vs landcruiser is like 1 vs 2

Not that it will be much direct help but I hooked up with a guy doing some custom fab work. This is his 70 and I'm going to get him to make me some sliders, rear quarter panel wings and a winch plate for my 80. Just some ideas I guess.

oh my, i do like that work.
get a price, maybe i will get him to make me a set ...

Crushers.. The front work was going to be around the $1100 mark but there is quite a bit of beefy reinforcement that you can't see around the winch bed. That quote was for my 80 though which would take some sitting down together to go through some designs and significantly more materials. He quoted me for around $500 for the slider set and I just assumed a rear set of wings would be priced in line with the rest. Quite reasonable I think. Shipping from Japan would be prohibitive I'm sure. But hey..I am coming back home to Victoria for the holidays with a couple empty suitcases...;)
