Build Question?

Hi, I normally post in the FJ Cruiser Section, so this is new territory for me. I am currently building my FJ as a desert vehicle and am almost done and ready to start my new project within this year. I'm wanting to build a rock crawler and don't know enough about the 40 or 55 to make an educated decision as to which would be the best platform to start with, or an approx price I would be looking at to just get my hands on one of these. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Go with the 40 series. The frequently asked questions has a best year to buy thread, check it out. Craigslist your area and go get one!

I would have to agree with Mark also. The FJ40 is the way to go. Craigslist is great for finding rigs and I always check the three closest big cities near me. For example I am closest to Sacramento but I also check the San Francisco/ Bay area and I also check Reno, Nevada all which are in a 2 hour drive from me. I guess because of the economy people are practically giving stuff away. You just have to look frequently.
