Is there an method to refurb it or is the only option to replace the whole shifter surround for $250-ish?

Not my car but this part:

Yeah mine is worse than that and not getting any better. I have though about regluing the decal but I'm not sure that would look any better.

Based on what I can see on eBay for replacement parts and in various parts catalogs this area is actually part of the gear shift assembly.

I was toying with the idea of replacing that console but it wouldn't solve the concern.

You can buy that replacement part. Mine looks the same way. I haven't installed the new one yet. It involves cutting some wires in the gear shifter so that it can be removed and the new face place installed.

Good news. Any idea what part # or a link to more info?

found the part #...for some reason all the online parts pages are missing the component area to look this up.

That's correct. $94.39 from our friend @beno

As far as installation, there has to be a way to install it without clipping and resoldering wires.

I pulled these pics of the entire assembly off of ebay:

I believe you can release or un-pin the wires from the harness and not have to cut anything. There was a tread on replacing the shifter that covered how to do it.

the cover of my front PS window controls delaminated after being all bubbly like you've described. i just glued it back on with a film of E-6000 thinking it might fill some of the bubble voids - it's held and does look improved, but it's not crystal clear like a fully intact trim piece.

If anyone need one of this let me know, and I can get one for you for $85 shipped within the US.

i pulled mine off, wet sanded it, and spray painted it matte black...better than the "chromed" plastic on my 2003...I'm talking about the square trim piece that goes around the shifter block..
