I think I am just going run about 6, 5" bolts along the center of the flair and bolt it down. The heads of the bolts will show, but I am not too worried about that. Its a bit ghetto, but I think it should work.

There's gotta be a better way, that's more than a bit ghetto. (Though it probably would work.)

Magnets actually aren't a half bad idea. There are some rare earth magnets that would be more than strong enough to keep it mounted in place, but easy enough to pull off when you're going wheeling. Would be cheap too.

Only down side is that locals or club members will screw with you, it'll become a game of "find the flare."

If you could make the bolt heads look like the ones on the bushwacker flares, but functional, that would be sick.

I thought about that. Unfortunately, the bolts have to run through the center of the flare on these, since that is where the flare is flat. If I ran them along the top it would crush the edge. I dont think having 6 bolt heads exposed will look too bad if I plaint them black to match the flares.

With your skills you could make it work. They're fiberglass so all it takes is some filler and mat, but it's kind of a pain to work with. It would be a lot easier if bushwacker would just make a product for us 80 guys.
But honestly, cut a few half circles in the top of them, put in some small diameter pipe, and goober some glass on the back. I had a bolt in mine holding it up, and it bugged me, but that was the PO who did it.

Little time before work today. Removed the inner fender wells and relocated all electronics to inside the engine bay.

Removed more sheet metal. Removed the inner fenders and clearanced the outer fenders. Plan is to mount the OEM flares a few inches higher than the stock mounting point, a la cut out flares.

Todays casualties. The scrap guy that picks up metal in our neighborhood absolutely loves me:

I hear ya. But part of the reason behind the bolts was so that I could easily
remove them if I go crawling.
Thats a good idea.

The fiberglass flares suck. One whack on a tree they're done. The ABS ones are the ones to get.

I need to do this. Nice job!

Seems like the way to go. Just not sure what to do about the air intake.

It would be easy to fab up a snorkel out of pvc if you wanted to run without fenders. I am putting the fenders back on, I just removed the inner fender for clearance and because i will be trimming the outer fenders quite a bit.

Here is what I have removed from the outer fender so far. Im going to trim as much as possible while still allowing the fender flares enough metal to mount flush.

Before/After.

Those are not the same tires. What sizes are they?

Fender cut looks great. Did something very similar on my 60.

Thanks. Still need to even it out and clean it up a bit. Went from 37's to 35's temporarily ... Or maybe not so temporarily. We shall see.

idk, with that trimming, you might wanna go bigger than 37s

I have been eyeing these cut out flares from China. I haven't seen them outside of that ad, but they do bolt on from the outside.

Interesting. That's exactly what I have been looking for. $260 is no bad for a full set of flares. I may have to pursue this.
