Great Pics guys...... Looks like you guys had a great time wheeling those wagons...

Wow, lots of great pictures!

Reid, what is it brother that we always get separated every time we wheel together? :flipoff2:
Haha! This wasn't by choice, more mechanical/physical limitations (this time).

Which reminds me:
I wanted to ask you and Steve what you felt was the minimum 'requirement' (suspension/tire) to get through the Connector. As bad as I want(ed) to run this trail, from what I saw, I would've been stuck BIG TIME! What's your opinion on this?

Who's got a little Captain in him?
Ha! Another great caption!

Hey guys what about the rest of the big loop trail that goes around the whole area? Is that open yet?
Yes, I believe the whole park is open again. I really want to run some of the other trails in the area, now that they're open.

I'll be back in SD November 1st, maybe a post Halloween run out there?

:steer:

Ooh, BTW:

I was looking at the map of CC and noticed this statement:
"The northern half of 3A (Bronco Peak Connector) is extremely challenging for 4WD. Vehicles must be less than 72 inches wide."

I believe the 80 series is a bit wider than that!

WOW, I totally missed out and these pics are like salt in my wound here.

Mo you ever get s*** for having handi cap plates on that monster of an 80?, lol

One thing that I know is that somehow you always manage to make it everywhere I do. I don't remember anywhere specifically that my lift and tire size was a determining factor as to whether I made it or not, but I know it would have been more of an overall struggle with less lift and tire. I also noticed that Mo had difficulty in spots that I didn't which I attibute to his all terrain tires. So I'm thinking that you could have made it with us but it might not have been pretty.

At some point you are going to have to decide whether bigger tires would be right for you. I have noticed that bigger tires make a noticeable difference. Probably even more so than lift size. While I have run with rigs on 37's, I haven't noticed much of a difference capability wise. But the difference between 33's and 35's is usually pretty evident. At the far end of the spectrum, running with Sam, there is an incredible difference between 35's and 40's. Still, 37's will probably be the next and biggest tire I will ever run.

I saw the same thing while I was pushing the dent out of my door from the inside and pulling off my mouldings:flipoff2:

You definately missed out Sam! This was an awesome run. Even though I did some damage, I have no regrets. I conquered something that not too many have, in a Lexus no less:D
Are you coming to S-N-T ?

Thanks for making me feel better about it Steve, :flipoff2:, lol. Your rig is FLEXED out, what amazing pics. I love how you run the CON w/out a scratch and get the first bit of rash locally, no worries it will buff right out, as they told me after my roll over (and it did).

Speaking of roll overs, I am planning on SNT, already have my work and school planned around it, so hopefully all goes well. Planning on leaving either Thursday night about 7pm or Friday at 6am. If we Caravan it I promise not to be an hr. late this time bro.

You could probably make it but you would beat your rig up. I did a post crawl creeper check and with 6" and 315's I hit/dragged almost everything but it was all armored so no big deal. If you are armored well you could do it. Like Steve said the bigger tires help more than the couple of inches of height. They roll over the bigger obstacles better making it a little smoother transition and more controlled. That can relate to less of a chance of body damage. The tread issue can be a factor too but I did it with A/Ts.

That would explain the sign post that had the black diamond, motorcycle, quad and Jeep with a big red circle and slash through it, about 3/4 of the way down. :grinpimp:

Except this time :crybaby:. I didn't even try.

However, good times were had taking Boyd and Ulysses (+ Vince) through Sidewinder. That's always a fun run.

More lift/tire is planned, but it'll be a while. It gets a bit tiring dragging myself over almost everything.

I think A/T's are a descent tire for that area. Lots of large granite slabs/rocks and compacted soil. Not too much loose rock or sand, with the exception of that ashy silt.

Thanks for making me feel better about it Steve, :flipoff2:, lol.
Anytime. That's what I'm here for.

So let me get this straight, when were driving all the way to the Rubicon, you don't want to leave until 9 am. However, if you're only going to Pismo, you want to head out at 6 am? What gives? We can caravan if you're willing to wait until about 9 or so:D

Great question with a simple answer. I was still putting the truck together until 9am, hence the last minute need for a spare tire mount

Between a rock and a hard place. I am slightly left (right in the pic) of the ideal line but you couldn't attack this from any other angle and all you can see is sky. All about trusting your spotter. That is Steve's back in the pic and the hill is even steeper behind him for about 75 yards.

Thankfully a little more room than Steve had. Benefit of not being the Guinea Pig. :bounce2:

My friend Andy's son Ben on the left and my son Scott on the right. The :princess:'s were thrilled when we brought them home. :D
HAHAHA, Mo, that looks familiar!!!
My kid after the same trail :D
