Hard to see in the pic but investigating a sloppy e-brake and found the mount where the cable attaches on the back of the dustcover that covers the rotor is mostly gone! The mount looks like its riveted to the dustcover and couldn't find it in any parts diagram. Any advice on what to do to replace it?

Happened to mine recently, the broken piece is called the bellcrank bracket. You're best to replace most of the stuff while you're in there, including the bellcranks and all the springs, pins, etc. All the springs and pins can be bought in a kit for about 15 bucks. The bellcranks are about 10-15 each, and the bellcrank brackets are about 20 bucks each...
There are some great writeups if you search parking brake fix or replacement which include pictures step by step. Very easy process. Follow the steps to remove the rotted ones, each bracket is attached with 2 bolts from the inside of the plate.
Part #'s are cirlcled on the pic for you. Note that 2 part #'s means the left and right sides are different from each other! The hardware kit should contain all the other springs and pins, etc. that you may need.
1  job.
Happy Thanksgiving!

The cable is actually attached with a small pin thru the arm. As bad as it looks you are probably going to have to tear the whole rotor/ brake assembly down to remove that arm and drill or press out the old pin and replace it with a new one. The arm assembly is held onto the backing plate via two bolts which are accessed by removing the rotor hat. Chances are you are going to replacing several other parts while you are in there if I was guessing.

Here is my rear axle thread which has several pictures of that very item. I probably need to complete the rebuild thread with the final pictures.

And I would also recommend that you hang onto the stock parts that aren't completely trashed, "star adjusters and the pin retainers" see page 2 of the above for my reasoning. Then once you are all done, chunk whatever is left over.

Also, there are some really good threads about how to properly set the E-brake once you have everything replaced and moving freely.

Are the parts the same for rear disc e-brake also? I saw that diagram before but thought it was just for drums, i have rear disc's. Thanks for the pics jynx

That diagram is for the disc brakes. Drums would have a wheel cylinder between the two shoes at the top. I used that when I ordered some of my parts. I replaced the pins and the brackets but cleaned up and reused the arms and boots. I sprayed inside the boots with white lithium grease after I got it together to help prevent a repeat, and I will also be checking the rear brakes regularly.

OEM parts can be had from CDan and Beno at American Toyota. LOWE Toyota in Atlanta has stepped up also, they used to sell to ACC and now have become a Vendor here as well. Both give a discount to MUD members.

Oh okay, cause the brakes look like shoes to me in the diagram. But if you used those part #'s I will do the same :) thanks!!

EDIT1 Ahh I see, that diagram is for Discs and drum setup. NVM

EDIT2 @jnyx Okay didn't know that was the case, it's a drum e-brake/disc stopping only system, thanks!!!

On the rear of the FF axles yo have two separate systems at work. Your main braking is the discs, which you see thru the wheels. If you pull your wheels and calipers you should see that the disc has an enlarged center section, or hat. If you pull the disc rotor off you will see what that diagram shows under that hat. Unlike a drum set up where the drum serves to both stop you and act as the e-brake, in this set up, you have a disc rotor that provides your main stopping for driving and then a separate drum setup inside that serves as your parking brake.

It is a good setup, but unless you pull your rear rotors regularly, and how many of us do that , then the e-brake often gets overlooked.

I would guess that the "slop" that you were mentioning is a combination of the neglected parts and an e-brake that is probably way out of adjustment. I actually need to pull my wheels and do some more fine tuning to get mine to hold like it really should.

Good luck and if you have any specific questions, shoot me a pm, since I just finished this up I may have some other pictures, or will be glad to get you some if you need them.
