I'm looking at purchasing a 200 in Brandywine Mica, but haven't seen this color in person. The car is in Miami, Florida and I'm in Jackson, Mississippi. We recently sold a Fire Agate 2015 GX and it was one of those colors that is hard to tell in pictures, but was more of a brownish color in person. I'm not a fan of Maroon vehicles and am nervous about spending this much money on a vehicle and it being maroon when it shows up.

So if you own one or have seen one, do you feel it is more of a brown or maroon color in person?

It’s more burgundy, and it has a lot of metal flake in it almost like a candy apple burgundy in person. I personally have always hated “red” cars, but I bought a brandywine 200 with the terra interior. I now consider it to be one of the coolest color combos, and I absolutely love the way it looks. I get lots of compliments on the color, but a big reason why has to do with the color matched Rhino front bumper (details in my signature). Color is totally subjective, but I think brandywine is gorgeous.

Found this sample that does a decent job of showing the difference. It should be looked at in person if possible though to see if you hate it or love it. It has a lot less brown than the special Tundra and GX color they've offered.

It is about as Maroon as it gets. If you don't like Maroon you should probably keep looking.

Having seen one and been around one in person for bit, I think it is a very cool color when built.

That said, in my opinion, give a brandy wine 200 about 10 years of age and it will look old, dated, and not that appealing.

Example, I now sit around Toyota’s all day. Not just Land Cruisers, but mostly all Toyota’s (and a few drag cars). In the shop today I’ve got a 2019 4Runner, and it looks great. I’ve got a 2003 4runner, and it looks old. I’ve got a 2002 4Runner, and it looks great, got a 2013 Land cruiser, and it looks old, and my 2011 Land Cruiser which looks cleaner than this 2018 Land Cruiser in blue onyx.

Vehicles age differently. Everyone is paying a lot of money for a 2016+ 200 beucase it looks better than the other 200s. But those 2016-2020 200s will look like a bloated 4th gen 4Runner (2003-2009) very soon once the new Cruisers come out, and no one is going to be very impressed with it outside of this community. Just how it works. It’s also why LX570s don’t hold their value as much as Land Cruisers. Because old luxury cars are gross. Not my opinion, but come on, flashy cars need to be either brand new, or 30 years old to be cool. It is just more shallow social acceptable to the masses to have an older Toyota than it is a older Lexus. Just how it works.

So if you want to keep a Cruiser for 20 years, I don’t know about brandy wine unless you just are absolute in love with it, which you are not beucase you’re asking us our opinion. Which goes back to, Will you be happy with an old looking truck? Want to have a brandy wine 200 for 4-5 years, heck yea man, it’s a cool color.

Remember that time you looked at a 25 year old brown Mercedes and said to yourself, “god I love that faded off reddish brown thing!” No you don’t ‘cause no one ever does.

Totally disagree, and it's not because I have a brandy truck. I've had 51 cars and motorcycles from all kinds of brands and all kinds of colors, so I'm not fanboy of anything...or maybe I'm a fanboy of a whole bunch of things?! I think the 200 all years and all colors will be very desirable in the future, and things like rust, condition, and build are going to be far more important than color. I also think the less common colors are going to be much more desirable because of lower production numbers - like Amazon green. Everyone wets themselves over the Amazon color, and IMO it's just meh. People love it because it's rare more than anything, and brandy and blue onyx will be the same way in time with their tiny production numbers.

BTW those "ugly" brown and other retro colors are massively popular right now, and color popularity comes and goes with time. Ultimately it's down to personal preference, but it's silly to say a brandy colored 200 will look older or newer than any other color. What's going to date cars more than anything in the future is outdated and unintuitive infotainment systems, and all 200s were already massively outdated when they were brand new. But the 08-11 200s are definitely the most outdated obviously without color screens, halogen lights, illogical button layout, etc. The "best" 200s in the future are going to be the least rusty 16+ trucks IMO because at least they have "modern" safety tech, LED lights, better button and infotainment layout, better interior colors, better transmission, and better overall styling. Of course beauty is in the eye of the beholder, so others will obviously disagree. Most people think the best of anything is the version that's in their garage.

I have a Brandywine Mica with the Terra interior and love it. I would not call it maroon. To me, Brandywine Mica is the perfect name for the color. That being said, if you don't like maroon, you should probably look elsewhere. Color is extremely subjective and something I would not call maroon, you might. It is a bit darker and browner than the Ford Burgundy Velvet or the Honda Crimson Pearl, but both are very similar.

Wow, that’s the first dislike I've ever had, for an opinion no less.

Anyway Matt, 51 cars, I’ve had 3. Guess that means I stick with things more, probably why I won’t be surprised when you sell your brandy wine. That goes back to my “do you want it to be a 5 or 20 year car?” comment. You yourself show that you will most likely sell it or have at least seriously contemplated selling it. And who are you around that thinks poop brown 80s cars look good?

Some people like colors, some don’t, just giving a different opinion. I’m sure people don’t like my Line-X’ed 200. The difference is, I never asked for anyone’s opinion on it.

Doesn’t mean anything against the OP for his question on asking for thoughts, just means you open yourself to hearing things that you may not like.

I would call it close to maroon. I like the color, but I do agree with Taco2Cruiser. I bought my current LC in 2017. I bought it with a plan to keep it at least 10 years. If I were planning to keep it 3 years or less, I would have gotten Brandywine Mica. I went with silver because I'm afraid the Brandywine Mica will show scratches worse and just be an outdated color in 8 to 10 years.

Much of the "aging" depends on how well the vehicle is maintained. Those brown MB's look dated because most have faded paint, dents and ripped interiors. I've also seen the same brown MB's that look like stately older cars because they were well cared for, shiny, with straight grills and unblemished bumpers. The same holds true for any color.

The LC/LXis a bit different. They are meant to get dinged up a bit, but that doesn't mean that they can't be cared for.

Dark colors tend to "age" quicker unless taken care of because they appear to fade more if not washed and waxed.

I actually like the Brandwine a lot and, if taken care of, will age no different from any other color.

Nice ride! I'm on my 34th car/motorcycle in roughly 12 years, so I know nothing is truly permanent.
I resemble the latter of this remark. I just turned 34 and I've had 40 cars and motorcycles, including a stint of 5 years driving the same vehicle.
I love all kinds of cars, trucks and motorcycles and have owned 41 now with the addition of the RX, and making sure my investments are well preserved with good records is paramount.
I think about and care about that more than most having owned 41 cars/motorcycles before I turned 34, but it's a real factor to consider as these things age.
I've owned 45 cars or motorcycles in the 16 years I've been driving, so I've bought a few off lots when they've aged to the point I can get a great deal.
I've had a lot of different vehicles, about 50 cars and motorcycles, and I was thinking about what would be next. After considering all kinds of different stuff, I came to the conclusion that the 200 is still one of the best vehicles on the planet even though the platform is a decade old.
PS - I'm only at 51 now (bought a classic Jeep recently), so I'm sure there are others out there with a more lengthy history :D

I've been on Mud for about 12 years, so quoting out of context or chronological order makes those quotes pretty awkward I'll admit. The reality is I'm an enthusiast and been obsessed with just about every type of vehicle imaginable since I was a kid, and I started working when I was in middle school to start buying and flipping stuff to try out as many different things as I could. The internet has historically been a pretty anonymous place, so in the past I've tried to contextualize my experiences to help others. The way I look at it is if some random stranger says they think a "fill in the blank" is the best car ever, and then you realize they're 19 years old and talking about their first car, the context is important. Likewise, if someone says a Porsche is the best car ever, but they're a 65 year old doctor who's owned a hundred 911s in a row and one Cayenne turbo thrown in for diversity, the context is important. If someone has had a bunch of different stuff from different countries and used all as intended on and off road, that context is likely important to some (it definitely is to me). If the way my posts have come across has offended you or others, I apologize since that never been my intent.

Wow you had to go waaaay back for some of those old quotes - I’m impressed I go through them pretty quickly, and I can paste my spreadsheet here if you’d like that includes year, make, model, country of origin, and years owned. I want to go back and fill in VINs too since I haven’t been tracking those. In the last year and a half, I had a Macan, Land Cruiser, Tacoma, LX570, Land Cruiser, Wrangler, Tesla, Ducati, and Honda motorcycle. I can keep going if you like.

Wooosh!

No one on this board cares about the XX cars/motorcycles you’ve owned at XX years old. You have some sick obsession with bringing this up on just about every thread you post in. Please reign in your ego.

Sounds like you and Taco got the context wrong, but whatevs! At least I don’t say I’m an engineer in every post, but maybe that’s less controversial.

Oh Matt, don’t act like you’re all easy going when you responded the way you did.

But I’ll give everyone a pass because that’s the problem with text. We all know we can’t read inflection.

We all have experiences that shape us and of course we will call on those experiences to help us assume what the future will bring. And... we all must assume because no one knows the future, and that’s where we disagree, because we all think we know the future better than the next guy.

You think what you think, I think what I think, other people on this board think what they think, it’s fine, just don’t get all butt hurt when someone doesn’t feel the same way about something as you.

I’ll see you in Colorado in a few weeks, I’m sure we’ll get along just fine and (said in a 100% joking way) your poop brown rape van will look great next to my Highlander that turned into a rubber ball in the pictures.

It a beautiful color that will stand the test of time.

🤣 That’s a fitting description actually! I’m genuinely looking forward to LCDC and getting to meet you. My problem lately is my web wheeling to actual wheeling ratio is all jacked up and I’m crankier than usual! Oh and ask @JohnJB where my brandy truck came from - he found it for me and convinced me to buy it! I was actually looking for white at the time😆 it’s grown on me to the point I genuinely like it, but it wasn’t my first choice.

Like red or not, that is probably the best color the 200 has ever been made in.

How different is the Brandywine Mica on the LC from the Noble Spinel Mica on the LX? Seems like the LX may be a tad darker but I have never seen either in person.

I made a quick comparison from the PPG website.

It appears that the Noble Spinel Mica has more red.
