Watch what you use when it comes to pads...There are a lot of brands/types that dont seem to "like" the rotor material too much... and cause squeels, groans, and even vibration when they heat up

You could also wear out the rotors MUCH earlier than normal from too hard of a pad, especially the "lifetime warranty" pads...They are the worst !

I am sure Toyota spent a bit of time devloping those O.E. pads to give the best "overall" blend of wear, performance and quiet operation, while still maintaining reasonable rotor life

I will stick with O.E. ...Unless I ever switch to slotted or drilled rotors, then I will go with the (rotor) Mfg`s suggested pads/material

There`s my .02 worth !!

I agree with SINCITY100 about sticking with OEM.

I've had rotors screwed up by aftermarket pads, especially those advertised as "better" pads. Love that groaning, warping disc.

Recently re-did my rear brakes, used new OEM rotors & pads. Factory-smooth.

For the price and rooting around, OEM pads would have to be upthere with the others, at least you know you will getOEM original brake power, with the others, who knows? are they really better and do theylast 3 times longer???

My experience with aftermarket pads was that they left a ton of brake dust. :princess: I know!

I can't remember what brand they were, but I swore after that, I would never use anything but OEM.

IMO, OEM, OEM, OEM!!! With 310k combined miles on my 2 trucks, only once did I stray. The aftermarket front pads lasted 13k miles on my 4Runner and my front wheels were always black. I have never resurfaced rotors on either truck, just check / replace at first squeal.

Wagner Thermo Quiet pads- no dust, 3 years and 25k and going strong.
