I have to get my brakes done and I was wondering it the whole front needs to be disassembled or is it a simple swap to change front rotors and pads. How much time should a shop charge ?

If the rotors look good it's nothing more than a pad swap. You could do it in under 10 minutes. Now a shop might insist on turning the rotors which will most likely spell the end for them as they seem to warp easily after being turned.

If the rotors need to be changed then the hub needs to be removed and that gets into a whole lot more work with new seals and a bearing repack.

Hey Skunk,

I was in the same boat, the shop wanted 140 just for pads no rotor work. I bought a 3 ton jack and stands and did it last night in about 20 minutes. It's not hard, look in the FAQ as there is a write up.
