Just bought a 1991 HDJ81. Killer truck!! The brakes look fine, but when I put it in 4x4 low and first gear, they will barely stop the vehicle.

Any way to beef up the brakes some so that it will stop better or any other suggestions?? Or is this just one powerful 6 cyl turbo diesel??

Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks!!

It's a worthwhile upgrade. I would wait until your stock brakes are worn out though, if they aren't already.

Also look at aftermarket slotted rotors. And also use brake pads from a LX### (what ever is equivalent to 105 series cruiser) something like 30% greater surface area on friction material.
