The Brake Master Cylinder on my 94 Prado is beginning to age and show cracks. I've been looking at Terrain Tamer's BMC, ADVICS BMC sold on Cruiser Teq and wanted to ask how do the aftermarket parts like TT and ADVICS compare to AISIN/OEM?

Thanks in advance

Samsies... in fact every KZJ78 I've seen has a cracked / crazed reservoir.

Cruiserteq is telling me this one is being used as a replacement by many Prado owners, but it requires some wiring mods for the fluid sensor level. Anyone have any detail? The sensor connector is on the same side of the reservoir... is it a different shape? If so, I'd need to come up with a male equivalent and cut off the factory plug as I doubt the female reservoir mounted part of the plug can be swapped from the old MC to the ADVICS version.

The only difference I see in the Cruiserteq ADVICS version and the OEM version is the ADVICS MC appears to lack a location to attach the cable bracket for what I think is the throttle cable. I could ether have a tiny bracket welded on to the end of the ADVICS MC (preferred for long term) or just use some zip ties (not as good to solve my OCD issues, but probably works for the next 10 years).

I have an 80 series MC and I could not find online a matching electrical connector for its fluid level switch. I snipped and soldered on the old BJ74 mc connector to the new mc cap.

The 80-series master cylinder I used had the same cap/sensor plug as my original LJ78 one, so it was plug and play:

Although your original question was answered by @OGBeno here's some more information on what is available as a substitute...

Advics BMT051 (BMT-051) from a 93 T100 is available at Rock Auto ~$62 fits, and looks very similar to the one posted by @AirheadNut . This has a 1" bore (slightly bigger than standard 70 series master, but same as 80 series master), also has the fluid level sensor in the cap. One may or may not have to swap the plugs depending on year.

This one from cruiserteq looks like a direct replacement for you, is OEM, and is perhaps the one you went with. It has the bung to mount your throttle cable, or what ever it is that is shown in your photo:

Lots of great MC info from @cruiseroutfit here:

I’m looking into getting a new master cylinder for my lx450 . I went to parts geek and found 2 different part numbers but both supposed to be from advics . The cheaper one 82.97 has a part number that doesn’t come up on any search. The higher price one 147.97 as a part number that can be found . As far as I can find out advics only makes one master cylinder that fits the lx450 . They don’t make 2 different ones . Is parts geeks using a fake advics master cylinder and selling it as a advics product or is it the same one but with a lower price ? Look at this page you can see both of the next to each other . Can parts geeks be trusted ? 97 1997 Lexus LX450 Brake Master Cylinder - Brake - Advics, Autopart Premium, Beck Arnley, Centric, Dorman, Dynamic Friction, Quality Pro, Quality-Built, Raybestos - PartsGeek - https://www.partsgeek.com/catalog/1997/lexus/lx450/brake/brake_master_cylinder.html Doing a search I found the part number BMT-046 that has ADVICS name with it that fits the lx450 . This part number is always with the 80 dollar range . You can type this number in and find it listed in the advics store in Amazon and this link from auto nationparts and a bunch of others https://www.autonationparts.com/par...IsPNVkpTCYM7O5Z_Nz_ZQ1NIayhISdQUaAudLEALw_wcB. Do anyone know if there is a real difference in the advics bmt-046 and the advics W0133-1614822 part number ?

Maybe ask in the appropriate forum? LX450?
My comment wasn't so much for a specific model . He ask about ADVICS mastercylinder . I was just pointing out that the advics for the same exact Master cylinder has different part part numbers from different companys from 250.00 from lexus or toyota down to 50.00 from parts store and going by the Advics company they only make one grade of master cylinder . They don't make a 50 one and a 250 one of the same master cylinder . If it's a advics master cylinder them the 50 dollar one is the exact same one as toyota 's 250.00 one . This is true with any of the advics models of master cylinders not just the lx450 . It would be the same as on his 94 . Who made you the forum police anyways ?

I was under the impression that he was specifically asking about the LX450
