does anybody know if the late 62 m/c happens to be the same as the early 80 series? trying to fix an issue on a recent purchase, and heard early 80 series master cylinder might work. easier to find late 62, than early 80.

Either will work. I think 60, 62 and early 80 are all the same (as well as Mini-trucks of the same years)

I have found virtually any 80's-90's Toyota MC boosters (Celica, PU, 4R, LC, Supra, etc) all physically interchange with the differences being diaphram diameter, thickness and required pushrod length.

bores range from somewhere around 7/8 all the way to 1 1/16. This is usuall stamped/cast into the mastercyclinder body itself. I certainly would not recommend buying a MC from a salvage yard...never know what you are getting...unless you just need a core. Plenty of vendors sell the 1 to 1 1/16 bore MC's most everyone uses on 4WDB conversions. I bought mine from marlin but have been told any mid 90's V6 minitruck or 80-series MC should work fine (1" bore IRRC).

Exactly what do you have and what are the problems you are trying to remedy?

bought a 4wdb converted 60, and it's got a very soft pedal. stops, but not confidence inspiring. somebody told me about the 80 series m/c being a good solution, and i haven't been able to come across one yet. figured, if the 62 shared the same bore, at least maybe the later ones, i might be able to come up with one much quicker. trying not to spend a ton, if it's not necessary.

According to my Autospecialty parts book (#BR99):
10/83-4/85 7/8" bore; p/n M-56404
5/85-12/89 7/8" bore; p/n M-57006

1/90-1992 1" bore; p/n M-56707

nt,
dude, that rocks. thanks tons for that. where'd you get that book? that would save me on a da@n regular basis!!
I asked the local parts wholesale/distributor for it. I don't know that the p/n's are still good; I mostly listed them to show that there is some difference between those m/c's. The book does not indicate how or what is different.
From a google search it appears that Autospecialty has been bought by or merged with TRW.

Marlin Crawler sells a MC w/1" dia bore and I have heard Jim Sickles of Downey state in this forum he sells one with a 1 1/116"dia bore. Either should work for you as it sounds like you are not pushing enough fluid.

I would recommend first being certain that your MC/booster pushrod is adjusted properly first. This doesn't cost anything other than your time.
