Is the front brakeline that goes from the pumpkin to the knuckle on the drivers side that same on fj60's line? REason i asked is that one of the lines has a crimp in it and i thought maybe that is restricting the proper flow of fluid to that caliper. Thoughts?

Jason

60 axles are wider. All the width is on the long side of the axle. I would say the fittings are the same but the length would be different. You can rent a double-flare tool from a parts store and just shorten the line. Easy to do.

Same meaning bolt right in?

Not likely...

Could you make it work?

Possibly.

It will be a few inches longer, as the long side is longer on the 60 compared to the 40 series......

could i get a flare kit from Napa or one of those stores and make my own?

You sure could.

It MUST be a double-flare kit, and not just a simple flaring tool.

Read away... <---- this is a link

ALso, would a crimp in the line cause restriction of the fluid to the caliper ?

It certainly would...and could also cause the caliper or brake shoes in that circuit to drag...

How do i know what size tubing and nut would i need?

3/16” tubing and 10mmx1.0 pitch thread is the fitting.

A decent auto parts place should have tubing with the correct metric ends on it already, so you should only have to flare one end… ;)

Bring your old line with you and match up the fittings to make sure.

badass...thanks Poser once again. I have learned way more about my brakes then i thought i would ever learn. Have a good holiday.

If they don't have the metric fittings you can reuse the nust off the old line if they are still good. Just get 3/16 line, cut the sae fittings off, slip on the old metric fittings and then DOUBLE flare it.

You can reuse one existing flare...you do not have to cut both ends to get the fittings off the steel tube... ;)

Just be sure to have the fittings on the steel line when you do flare it... ;)

And make sure the fittings are at the end of the tube before bending it. The fitting will not pass over a bend. Don't ask how I figured that one out. ;p

ok, i went to autozone today and picked up a new hardline with the metric fittings on the end. i got the 30" long one and that is a perfect length. I removed the old one and bent the new lines as close to the old ones as possible and got them installed. Bled the brakes and WOW!!! the crimped line was the problem. Not hard at all but very smooth. I drove it around the block a couple of times to make sure all was well and i have some air in the lines and i'll get that taken care of in the morning. thanks for all the advice and guidence.

Didn't even have to cut or flare.... Right on.
