I'm drinking Smooth Ambler Old Scout 5 year and Smooth Ambler Old Scout Rye 6 year. Both were Cumberland County ABC barrel selections and only $35 each.

I've decided I want to be their Godfather since I love them both so much.

High West usually has pretty decent stuff, especially their rye's, so it should be good. Crack it open and let us know!

Was gifted a bottle of this by a friend and slowly working on it. It's definitely a sipping drink and not more than two fingers for me a night. 119.5 proof. It has a taste kind of like Weller's cask strength, but a bit smoother.

Not bourbon but, I was gifted a bottle of Johnnie Walker Blue Label and I’m not a drinker…. I appreciate all this group has done to help me and would love to pass this on to someone who would enjoy it.

I’m in the north Raleigh area (Six Forks/540) if anyone close by is interested. I work in Rocky Mount/Wilson area so I could coordinate meeting in eastern NC somewhere as well.

Hope everyone had a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!! I hope to get Pearl to a meet-up soon.

I tried the "other two blue label barrel strength" Old Forester that I know of in town . . . at the Blind Barbour.

This one was BOOZY, very "new oak" Oaky and frankly I did not enjoy it as much as the Oak City I had at Whiskey Kitchen (also available at Blind Barbour). I forgot the name of the third one, but it was not Oak City or the below WC 2024, but it was my favorite. Check out the proof on this one, though, LOL.

I'm headed to Louisville KY this week, any recs for while I'm there? I think my group is starting at Buffalo Trace.
Yeah, if you are heading over to Frankfort, Buffalo Trace is an excellent tour.

Stop in Bardstown (between Louisville and Frankfort).. that is a must. Go to the Talbott Tavern and Inn... an 18th century though modernized bar with a tremendous Bourbon selection. While you are in Bardstown... visit Willet. A fantastic distillery.

Just my two cents.

Learned a ton on the bourbon trail. We went to:

  • Heaven Hill
  • Bardstown
  • Wild Turkey (group favorite)
  • Castle & Key
  • 4 Roses
  • Woodford
  • Old Forester
  • White Rabbit
  • Buffalo Trace
  • Michter's (was too booked out to do anything though)

Picked up these 3 to bring back on the flight, I had to keep myself from getting too many. Rare Bird is on my buy here list.

I believe the first pour was an 18yo Jameson that was quite delicious!! That was followed by Wild Turkey 17yo Masters Keep and then a Four Roses Single Barrel, Barrel Proof OESV. All very good!

Thanks again Al! Great call on hitting up The Canon.

Anytime dude.

The EC18 is the second time I have seen it for sale in my state at retail price this year. For the past 3-4 years, I searched on all my travels on the easy coast for it without success. When it showed up at my local store in April, I purchased a bottle as an early Father’s Day gift to myself.
