After a couple of months looking, I finally bought one - 2006 LX470 w/84K. Wife will be primary driver, so no real plans for mods.

Ordered a mVCI today. Plan to continue researching then start working through all the maintenance.

This LX has been local and it looks like a lot of service has been done at the dealership. I'm going to run by and see if they'll give me copies of the records. Has anyone had luck doing this?

Give them your VIN and they can print out your records.

Congrats!

I saw they dropped the price to $26k on that, were you able to negotiate much more off?
Thanks!
No, they would not negotiate any additional off.
On one hand I hate paying asking price. On the other, I'm OK with it. Trying not to give it too much thought. :)

I've wasted a big part of today reading this forum - and thus creating years worth of projects.
But I think I'm going to try and start with adding ipod integration and sat radio, hardwire my V1 and then start maintenance. I think...

Congrats on the purchase!! Welcome too!

As I read these posts, I'm trying to determine which are relevant to my 2006 and which aren't. As well as some of the lingo...
I realize some of the below may not have simple answer and I might have to just figure it out over time. But, can anyone help with the following...

- I know mine has the vvti, which was new for 2006. Other than that, is it pretty much the same as the '03+?
- What items are the same for the '02 and earlier, beside the transmissions?
- Which have my style of nav/radio (Mark Levison)? Was that an option for all LC/LX over a certain number of years? (I'm getting confused as I try and research the best way to add sat radio & ipod/phone).
- Any other common newby issues I should know or keep in mind as I search this forum?

Thanks!!

Congrats on new ride. She's a beauty...

As your car is identical to mine, I can try to answer a few of your questions.

- I know mine has the vvti, which was new for 2006. Other than that, is it pretty much the same as the '03+?
She's got a few features on the '03, and '05s for that matter. VVTi is by far the biggest one as you mentioned. You've got revised front and grill, LED style tail lamps, and new wheel style. And Lexus went back to the under bumper weight carrying hitch rated to 6500# (previous in bumper hitch had 5000# rating).

- What items are the same for the '02 and earlier, beside the transmissions?
The '02s and prior are the same generation. So majority of the chassis and coachwork stuff is compatible.

- Which have my style of nav/radio (Mark Levison)? Was that an option for all LC/LX over a certain number of years? (I'm getting confused as I try and research the best way to add sat radio & ipod/phone).
Don't quote me but I think all LX470's had Mark Levison stock. You should have bluetooth standard for hands free phone calls. For audio, by far the easiest/cheapest way to add ipod/sat is to do what I did here - https://forum.ih8mud.com/100-series-cruisers/508126-aux-input-gromaudio-adapter.html

- Any other common newby issues I should know or keep in mind as I search this forum?
You can be confident that you have just about the most desirable and well developed 100-series and they worked out most of the kinks by then. A few of the minor typical issues is the Mark Levison sub driver blowing out and AHC height sensors. Though I've only experienced the sub issue and that's it.

Enjoy!

^^^ and are you in normal or high suspension level? They tires look like Terras, correct?

Thanks. Stock ’06 LX470 save for the 305/60/18 Terra Grapplers mounted on stock wheels. And yes, AHC was in high mode.

Looks good! Any side shots? Does that size tire fit the spare tire opening?

I don't have any great profile shots, but these might give you a better idea. The 305/60/18 is a 32.5" tire. I know larger sizes will fit in the spare position, so this should fit fine. I have not upgraded the spare yet to know first hand.
