Its getting dropped off today. My plan is pretty mild; lid, new receiver, new lights. I like a lot of what I've seen on here. No plans for a RTT as we plan on sleeping in the truck bed along with a truck tent for changing and such. I hope I can get something for the wheels and tires he has on it now so that I can change them out to something a bit more versatile. I may do a SOA depending on how it sits with my mildly lifted truck.

wow, who'da thought glossy camo & bling rims on a trailer... :grinpimp:

looking forward to watching you return it to a state of usefulness.

Bought some 6x5.5 hubs for the M101 from Southwest Wheel.

http://www.southwestwheel.com/store/showproduct.aspx?ProductID=247&SEName=l0655lb3e

They will allow me to run the FJ Cruiser wheels that I also bought today. The wheels will match my 4Runner and allow me to carry one spare (I'll have two extra if anyone wants them). I also sent my lid design to a metal shop. The design is like others I've seen here. It mirrors the upper part of the tub (tapers inward). I'll post some pics when the new wheels are on. I am having a hard time finding matching Nitto Terra Grapplers that are gently used. I don't want to drop the kind of cash necessary for new tires to go on a trailer. Worst case is to use just any AT tire in 265/70/17.

Well...got rid of the Thornturds. I bought rims to match my vehicle off of the FJCruiser forum and bought the tires at two different used tire places. The tires are the same size at my TerraGrapplers but are BFG AT KO's. One is C rated and one is E rated. Hopefully won't be a big deal. At least this way I can carry just one spare.

I will get a better picture up sometime (this was cellphone)

:wrench:Sits great with the TV...get yourself a pair of them Roberto extended fenders and you'll be cooking with gas! :wrench:

I was just aboput to ask, the rims have to be sticking out for I know they are wider than my rims and tires. Just take your stock fenders to a weld shop, measure out as far as you wnat ur fenders and any wled shop can do for cheap, its flat metal bent 7 times, I think they used 11ga on mine

looks great

Rob

how about some flat green rattle can paint? auto parts stores actually sell painted intented for camo applications?

That's a thought. Half the problem though it that the paint on there is sooo thick, it keeps things from working right (landing leg, brake lever, etc.). I kinda just want it all off and start over.

With all those trailer improvments might as well throw in a new Trail Edition....lol

Pull that baby apart and take and have it blasted...a lot of guys have done that with great success, kinda like a "fresh" slate

Good luck and thanks for well wishes on my Toyo

Be well, Pat:beer:

Pat - curious - what should a 'decent' blasting run?

I think some where between 250$ to 400$ from what I remember reading..I'm sure it varies from state to state though.

When I was redoing some Rokons a few years back I blasted the first one...what a giant pain the ass...had the other two media blasted for 125$ for the frame, fenders, wheels and it came out GREAT!!

I guess if you have the right tools and the time it may not be so bad...but from an agrevation standpoint I wouldv'e gladly paid double

Its coming along, but I need help!

Well, the lid is made. It turned out OK, but I have some concerns with it too. It looks like the lid warped upwards in the middle, leaving a large gap. I was going to use automotive weatherstripping but that isn't going to work. I may have to bring it back and have them weld on a "drip edge" that covers the gap. What do you all think?

Yeah, that gap looks tricky. Hard to make it seal evenly with weatherstrip.

A drip edge will work fine for the sides and back. For the front, you'll need something flexible because of the hinge action.

Well...its more or less done. Lid and paint are completed. Now its time to customize. I need to weatherstrip the lid and wire the lights before we leave for Glacier/Yellowstone. If I have time, I want to put a tongue box on with a battery for a few electrical needs. I have to thank Swampman for much of the design.
