Well, I added one to the beginning of my collection of Cruisers. It's a 60 Fj25 (although the VIN starts with 9)

I'm excited to get it running and drive it maybe tomorrow. It belonged to the Yankee Boy mine in Ouray, CO for the first 7 years of it's life, and then to the same guy ever since.

It's all OD green, even the frame, does this mean military?

It's all original and seems to be all there but I really don't know much about them yet so let me know what cool stuff to look for.

It came with the OEM top (no canvas though) and one aftermarket soft top with doors that definately fit the rig. Actually, there are 3 sets of doors, although only one set is OEM.

I'm probably going to need some parts if anyone can help. I will buy or trade for other Cruiser parts that you may need. I've got at least one of every year but 58, 59, 61, 81, 82, and 83

I've decided not to part this rig as it's just too cool.

Suuuure....post a pic and we'll believe you! Congrats!

Anyone notice "first"? Like, who would need or want more than one?

Welcome First post pictures. The frames on the 25s were painted the same color as the rest of the vehicle. I have a 25 that has a Kayline top and doors on it. Is your a Kayline by change. There is a group purchase starting to get the factory top made. Your way ahead if you already have the bows and doors. As far as anyone trading for later cruiser parts good luck most of us are only trading for 25 parts. A few of us have bought more than one just to get parts. Again welcome and post some pictures we love to see it.

John

I'll take that crappy rear license plate holder off of your hands :D

I'll take the tool box cover too :D

Does it have a rear bench seat? It should since your factory bows are the same as mine. I'd love some dimensionds off of it so I can make my own.

I really think you should part it out. I'll take the above parts :)

The trailer plug is actually very easy to find. It is a miliatry plug that lots of the surplus places have in stock.

Damn I hate you !!!! :)

Strange location for a spare tire carrier.

Yeah, I wonder what's under those hubcaps. If you've got original wheels you've got more than I did after three of these things. Good Score! :D

pretty cool jeremiah...can't wait to see it up and running

OK spent some time on it tonight. It does have 5 factory wheels, The hubcaps are off something different but I do have a set of OEM hubcaps for it off of one of my FJ45LVs.

Cruiserman, The third thing we did to it was move the spare carrier back to the right location

Foxfab, I do have a 62 FJ40 toolbox lid. I think they are the same. It is available to you if it is.

Anyway, we cleaned the carb and blew out the fuel lines, added a little fresh gas, and it started right up! Not bad for not running for 15 years. I can't believe how well it runs. If I can get the brakes working tomorrow, I'll be able to drive it.

The vacume advance is wild, (for those who have never seen one, the whole distributor moves.)

Here I thought I knew almost everything about LCs. It's fun to be learning all this new stuff.

Oh ya, what do the pieces that connect the top bow to the windshield look like? They are missing.

Foxfab, I do have the rear seat and it is in excellent condition. Call me tomorrow and I will get you dimensions and photos from whatever angle you need. I know you can build the frame but we can too if that would make it easier.

The advancer is old school CHEBY. I've got two or three of those I pulled off of cruisers over the years. Considering they do double duty as the distributor clamp [AND WE ALL KNOW HOW IMPORTANT A GOOD DISTRIBUTOR CLAMP IS!] I wouldn't run that clamp if you plan on keeping that motor in the truck for long.

Jeremiah-

For the bow pieces around the door see the soft top thread maybe you can trade Mike for something ;) I should have the stock bent up in a couple weeks. The A-type bows you have are something special (probably not meant for the US), still haven't determined if the top is the same for those and the more common B-type bows.

The toolbox lid on the '62 40 should be the same dimensions but notice that your 25 has diaganol ribs and five catches (two in the rear) that makes it special. The tool box is also about an inch higher. This went away in 1960, about (or at) the same time as the cradle front motor mount.

What is this advance on the distributor Mark and you are talking about? Mark, do you mean it's actually a Chevy unit? Curious, as all mine look like a regular old Toyota unit. Like to see a picture of that.

Also curious what it says on your VIN plate. Is it in English and is there a letter after the FJ25L_ ?

Interesting Mark. I took a pic of it.

Cruiser_Nerd VIN plate says FJ25 - 12278L and it is in English. Thanks for the info about the bows. In the pics on the other thread, there isn't anything from the bow to the WS either. SOmething went there right??

Does anyone have a pic of the A type canvas top installed?

Yep, there's a horizontal piece that bolts to the mid bow and windshield frame. It's the same stock as the vertical one. You can just barely make the blue ones out in this picture:

Yup Jeremiah, that's a Delco dizzy too. The original BOMB in the LC. Get that thing outta there while there's still time. Then pull the cap and throw it like a hand grenade, as far as you can!

If you clean the diaphram on the advancer/ holddown, you will find an AC on there.

Come to think of it, maybe somebody with an old Cheby could still use it. Put it on Ebay for $5 and see what happens.

Mark, what do you think the idea of that Delco was? I seem to get plenty of advance, right where it should be, with the stock distributor and advance.
