PM'd you... I'm not on CSC would you mind giving them a heads up? For those without a garage, not sure what we can do except skid plate with tamper proof bolts or a Cat Clamp

So bad and odd. Sorry to hear. CSC has a page on MUD here

Bummer. I thought CAT theft was a thing of the past when they started cracking down at the salvage yards? I know it was real common 5-10yrs ago on all the 4wd Toyotas - something about the "better" metals inside them vs other brands and being very easily accessable. CAT on my pickup got stolen a few years ago, good neighborhood, truck was in my driveway about 20ft from where I sleep and I heard nothing. After examining the cuts I'm pretty sure they used one of those Milwaukee cordless pipe cutters/shears. Exhaust shop guy said they do it in broad daylight too - two man operation, one guy jumps out and gets under the vehicle while the other guy turns around the car and gets ready to pick him up like 1min later and they're out.

@peacesells63 is legit @CruiseLanderAZ, go get his shiit and save a bunch of cash. It's a nice small road trip from the east valley! He is good folk with mad skills.

I have a pair of factory cats/piping in great shape from my 01 lx that would bolt in. I would need your old header flanges, but I would sell them cheaper than your deductible. Im in the NW valley, let me know if you are interested.

The factory piping fit and quality is hard to beat so if the insurance will do it I'd go OEM.
A universal aftermarket cat install is a lot cheaper and easier when all the piping, o2 sensors, etc are still there.
Belly pan skid plates add some security here, I have a Slee belly plate on mine and it would be tougher to get the cats for sure.

I always thought Scottsdale was an affluent town. In my experience thieves target nicer communities because they know the payoff is greater with cameras, computers, ipads, cash, diamond-encrusted monocles, etc., left in the cars.
Never had any worries in Scottsdale, but I moved to central phoenix very recently (just updated my profile now). I'll admit it's not the nicest area but I'm still shocked.

Maybe I now understand the "why" for this:

Look at Magnflow High Flow Cats. I just put a pair on my LS swapped LX450, and they are great and around 100 bucks each

You'll need to match the collector diameter and find a shop you trust to install them.

PSA, my hi flow Magnaflow cat only lasted ~3 years before it failed Colorado emissions. The materials apparently wear out quickly and you'll need to replace the cat every few years on a daily driven vehicle.

Did you have any issues with insurance going up? Another thing I'm afraid of is them coming back for round 2 in a few weeks after fixing it. Do you think they'd chance it?

Check with your insurance policy. Many policies do not increase rates for comprehensive claims (at least not single isolated events).

I'd go with insurance and get OEM cats from Toyota if you can confirm your policy doesn't allow rate increases for one comprehensive claim.

F-in thieves. What a pain.

I installed an Eastern Catalytic converter and it is so far is good. comes with all the gaskets needed and direct bolt on, except to file little bit of metal at the output pipe at the rear end. $200 shipped!

Wow this is Crazy.
Just go with an aftermarket set up if the others dont work.

i dont get it here in uk a pair or cats cost £250 a pair for approved ones so why risk stealing , i thought this kind of thing stopped years ago . i hope you catch them

Forget the cats, and get a dog. German Shepherd or Dobie, preferably.

In all seriousness, people suck.. I had no idea cat theft was a thing. Sorry to hear you have to deal with this.

holy smokes! hoping you get your rig fixed up soon thru insurance or whatever is fastest and cheapest.

This brings new meaning to the term, "cat-burglar".

Do you all think it would be safe to drive it about 5 miles on the freeway to a place I can do the repairs, or worth calling AAA?

Safe, yes, but I think you mean chances of encountering law enforcement? They issue fix-it tickets for these things and would likely feel your pain being a theft victim. It will be loud as hell of course.

Thanks! I should've clarified - I did mean safe as far as the truck is concerned, not 👮‍♂️
