The bosal system is louder but i believe it is from the smaller resonator. Which can be cut off and a nicer larger one added on. Im not digging the drone of the bosal

I was just looking at this thread this morning!

The pipe leading into the muffler came loose. And the mount/damper right before it is broken. It got a pounding this summer. I'm going to take it to a mofle shop in the 'hood. May they can weld it up.

:hillbilly:

Maybe borla but its just as expensive as oem

I installed the bosal system , needed to put the heat wrench on it to get front pipe lined up w/ manifold. I put up a warning before do not use the davico from rockauto just in case you're or anyone else is considering it. Major work needed for that one

Am I off, or is it true the only muffler and tailpipe options new for a 1994 is the bosal? I cannot find anything by borla. All I can see they offer is for 1995-1997 and this is not compatible with my 1994.

I am seeing the bosal on partsgeek.com along with a Walker and Ansal name brand options for a muffler. Looking at all other websites and forums, I cannot find any other options.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

I have a '94 and I just bought a whole new exhaust system from the manifolds back. I went with OEM downpipes, OEM y-pipe, Walker aluminized steel muffler, Bosal stainless cats, and a OEM tailpipe along with all OEM gaskets and hardware. The OEM stuff came to around $1150 from my local Toyota dealer that gives me wholesale pricing due the number of parts I buy from them. The muffler and both cats came to about $460 shipped from Auto Parts Warehouse: Discount Car & Truck Parts

I ended up needing two new O2 sensors too and I picked those up from McGeorge for $235 shipped.

Everything I bought looked really good and it all just bolted right on with no hassles at all. I did paint the muffler with some high temp paint in hopes of keeping it in good shape for a few more years but the paint peeled off immediately in some spots bit the primer seems to be holding up. I may get back under there and pull the muffler off to try a different type of paint(Maybe BBQ paint?).

I am very happy with the way it all came together and I think I ended up being about $500 less than what i originally budgeted for and this should last for the remaining life of the truck, fingers crossed.

I have already replaced the cats with oem. I now am needing to replace the muffler and tailpipe. I called the Toyota dealership who said the OEM muffler is discontinued and my only option is aftermarket. The aluminized bosal muffler is $110.

Added the Magnaflow down pipe (like) and Magnaflow Muffler (dislike).
The Drone from the Muffler is so bad you can not use a cell phone.
Ordered the Bosal this week from Rock for $100.
I ordered a Walker Exhaust for my Avalon which was made out out Aluminized Steel. Lasted 5 yrs so I do not have my hopes up.
Low Grade Stainless (409) is what OEM is made of it and lasted about 15-20 yrs.

If the bosal and walker aluminized steel would only last that long, I am thinking I would be at least as well off to get a used cruiser muffler in good condition. Am I crazy for thinking this?

A weak point of the Bosal I had many years ago was the O2 sensor bung area would rust quicker that the rest of the exhaust. The studs that were welded for O2 sensor nuts would rust quickly. Hopefully that is no longer an issue. I have a Walker exhaust at this time.
