I picked up a cheap 2.25" shiny exhaust tip like this one (Amazon.com: Stainless Steel Rolled Angle Cut Exhaust Tip 2.25" ID, 3.00" OD, 18.00" length: Automotive ) my local exhaust shop, Exhaust Pros, welded it on for twenty bucks! Love that place!

Please update us with photos of the before welding on the new tip and after please!
I'm in the same boat with that tow receiver, interested on how the finished look is.

Those of you worried about the exhaust midpipe looking like it hung a little too low were right. Luckily I was able to "clearance" it easily.

I clearanced it on this rock ledge to the left. Didn't make it up this time, will come back with lockers. Didn't touch anything else except my sliders.

No, I'm not worried about any performance loss or other real issues. It does suck to bend up a shiny new exhaust but it was inevitable if it doesn't tuck where it should. See this video below for reassurance:

I completed a swap on my OE factory exhaust to the Borla cat back last night. While I was under there I also chased the threads for the splash guard and replaced with stainless steel hardware, serviced the diffs and t-case, and lubed the u-joints and slip yokes with Lucas. My crusty old factory exhaust was quickly convinced to come off after meeting the business end of a plasma cutter. The Borla system does have a very minor 1900 RPM drone, but it's barely noticeable and is way less than the obnoxious drone my rotted factory exhaust was spewing. The Borla also sounds way better at idle and maybe it's in my head, but it feels like my Cruiser revs better and engine braking is slightly less harsh. Although the latter could be due to servicing the gear oil.

You used Lucas green on the slip yoke? I switched away from that stuff after a couple of tries. I went to the Valvoline synthetic with moly and it improved vastly. I only went with the V because it was on the shelf, not because of any brand loyalty.

It's what I usually use, never had any issues. What problems were you having?

The thunk at the rear slip yoke returned soon after greasing and it was more pronounced. 1000 miles, mostly city, after using the V, still all good.

I guess the true definition of YMMV

Just got the borla setup on my 2002 TLC. Paid 725$ on Summit racing. Had to replace my center muffler, and original Toyota center muffler was $600. Totally worth the upgrade, don't notice anything on highway but has a nice growl on the streets. My mechanic said with this setup you're limited on skid plates. He said he had to mod a lot of parts to get the slee ones with this borla setup on his 99 LC.

I have the Asfir skid plates. I ground down the existing notch and cut a 1/2” spacer for the rear most bolts. No big deal.

HOWEVER, I also cut that blingy resonator right off. That thing just hung way too low. It was me, or the first rock on the trail that was gonna take it out. I figured I should be the one to do it.

In a similar situation and don't want a resonator. But I don't want any kind of highway drone, either—how much did the exhaust note change after removing the resonator?

I do notice a drone. It doesn’t bother me, but it’s definitely there. A little louder under acceleration. My wife doesn’t hear it at all. So, I decided to not worrying about it. Now I hardly hear it either. But, if it’s something that you think would bother you, then it will probably bother you.

Can you share any picture of where you put the spacers? Thinking of a similar set up!

Glad I found this thread…. Looking for some nice upgrades when I get my 100.

I realise you’ve got a Left Hand Drive model…. Any idea if the exhaust would fit a Right Hand Drive version?
Having a hard time finding a good car in LHD, so now looking and RHD market.

Any photos from the headers? Engine bay routing etc?

Cheers
