i am having my intercooler made by turbo performance Turbo Performance - For All Your Turbo Related Needs on my 12ht engine and i have ask the owner, Bob to make a couple of extra, in case some of you may be interested in getting one.

i have search the ih8mud and the internet and i have not found a bolt on intercooler for a 12ht engine. so here is one. i have no idea how much they will sell, i can find out if there is an interest.

specs are as follows: the core of the intercooler is 3.5" x 19" x 11", the overall dimension is 3.5"x24"x11", the estimated CFM is 1000.

below is the pictures, it is not yet done but you will get an idea on how it mounts. when it is done it will bolt on your 12th engine.... thanks:bounce::bounce2:

I am certainly interested. Love to know how it comes out.

i am suppose to go there tonite to work on it i will let you know. i am hoping to be able to start up the engine and test it out this week. .... thanks

subscribed and very interested. any plans to mod the hood? if they did make these, do they have the crossover pipe in stock, or would they need the core to do the mod on? big point there as my truck is a dd.

Very interested in this option.

update

the cross over pipe is not modified in anyway, in fact you can put it back at any time, you can just remove the intercooler and the original cross over pipe will bolt right in. i really like the progress i saw tonite see picture below, it is very stable as is but we will add two brackets in the back to make it more stable.

my plan is to add a hood air scoop see picture below of the mock up. the other future addition will be a fan on top of the intercooler, that i can turn on manually when i feel it is needed.

i hope that the fan will deal with some of the heat sink issues, i also hope that the size of the intercooler core 3.5" x 19" x 11" will also deal with the heat sink issues.

thanks

i agree with you, but this is not for a 1hd-t. it is for a 12ht, i search the net and could not find a bolt on intercooler for a 12ht. if you know of one let me know

mostly like the 1HD-T top mounted intercooler made in NZ ..

i will take pictures of the details, over the weekend.

did you have detailed pics of the pipe welding on the IC .. ?

thanks:cheers:

I don't now any .. actually thought that coz are not that big production engine to justify make one .. the 1HD-T it's by far much more popular longer production engine and you only have few options ..

How's it going with this..?
I'd be very interested in buying one, if they get finished.

bolt on intercooler for 12ht engine

i have not done any scientific test like a dyno machine, but i really like the intercooler, it seems to lower my EGT temp. in the future i plan to put a manually operated electric fan and an air scoop to help in the cooling and heat sink.

we only made one, if you are interested, i can see if i can get another one made or if there are others that are interested let me know..... thanks

Did you install the main vacuum valve on this that is usually on the back of the crossover pipe?

So it's now tilted up at an angle with a puller fan on the back it looks like. Cool set up. Will the fabricator be making more?

that's the way that I should work .. with wine and food .. nice progress on the IC .. it will take a bucnh of air flow like that ..

the original intercooler was laying flat. tilting it is my design , the welding is not pretty because i did it my self but it works, the pulling fan also helps to cool down the back side of the engine when it is turn on.

the original fabricator is not making more, it is actually very simple i think most fabricator can do this.

As I am really thinking about doing a version of this, I would appreciate your honest opinion:
- Do you feel it produces more power?
- Do you really notice lower EGTs?
- Do you notice more lag?

Many thanks for sharing your project
