JiffyLube found this bolt sitting on the skid plate during and oil change. Any ideas on where it came from or whether I should be worried?

I've owned the 470 going on 8 months and have done the timing belt and water pump as well as heater ts. No other maintenance aside from oil changes

I’m suggesting that it wasn’t torqued down properly when they did your timing belt.

So it is a bolt from the engine and relates to the timing belt service?

And if they hadn't found it/replaced it with another this would have caused a catastrophic failure...

Check your alternator or power steering pump.

Its a little hard to tell without looking at the engine. There are a few bolts of similar lengths like this.

It's a 12 mm, I'd guess, Probably from the fan bracket.

I also think it's most likely one of the lower bolts going into the fan bracket that fell out after the timing job.

OP, I also had my timing belt changed a few months back and today, I found what appears to be the same bolt behind my skidplate. Does yours have a number 8 on it? did Did you figure out where the bolt came from?

OK, took it back to the mechanic and they found that it was an AC bolt that must not have been tightened while finishing up the timing belt job.

This is wierd. I have two of those sitting in my tray from when I did my own timing belt last year. I've been waiting to see what starts to rattle. It's somewhat comforting to know other folks are equally incompetent.
