Killer!! That is some serious expedition there! I have been on some pretty tight trails and that's why the bed lined sides are nice.

1FZ-FE 4.5 Injection. Front (4runner) & rear (fzj70) LSD. but very tight. (out of specs range).

The 3 LC's have 1FZ, but the 75 series have Aussie Locker (works excellent).

so, which one was doing best overall? (hoping it's the 80... :) )

are Diesels common in Bolivia?

In my opinion was the 75 series, bigger tires more lift and the Aussie rear lockers works amazing. And have 2 winches. The 80's winches died when we back and we work with speed:steer::steer:, not recommended but works, because we knew where are the bad places and deep mud.

I ll take the next time 2 winches a wheel chains.:grinpimp::grinpimp:

2 years ago the government banned the import of diesel vehicles lower than 4000 cc. So now it is hard to find diesel engine LC.

Anyway, in the homes of used parts sold many diesel engines come from Japan, but change is very complicated, because almost nothing in the panel works once you place the diesel engine

Remember 0,52 cts per liter of gas or diesel. Its cheap and people buy diesel to sell in the border. (Peru, Brazil, Argentina, etc) Good Business.

I found Colombians in the Beni as well. Now add the Venezuelans and Cubans .

The colombians not they are "doing there":whoops::whoops:, but generally Venezuelan military, as there is a joint force with the Bolivian army. But neither is happening.:censor::censor:

Sounds like a hydraulic winch would have worked better and not burned up? Those 80 series stuck deep in mud are like dragging an anchor! They are heavy!

This expedition lasted 5 days and the first day in the jungle began to abuse the winches, all of us had bought new. In my opinion we should use winching techniques with pulley. I should bought syntetic ropes. I had one an its incredible the difference between synthetic and iron.

The hydraulic winch is the best option, but a lot of money. Bolivia does not get one of those.

care to tell us what winches model did indeed fail? of course this was pretty demanding pulling no doubt, but still failures the first day is not good... This was overheating issues?

T-max lost strength, but had one of support.

Rude Winch Rare chinesse brand selenoids burn. We had to make direct contact with the battery. but then stopped working.

Ironman Monster jam the cable into the Bullbar was impossible to remove it. When you get off the bullbar worked for a while and then returned to jam the cable was damaged and jam all the time. The winch never was the same.

I claim the warranty, because the ''carbones'' (i dont know the name in english) jam with mud and water, and the advertise said "waterproof"

Wow ! Great pictures & a really exciting trip. When you say 'off road' you guys mean it.

Did you consider taking Warn 8274's ? Be interesting learning how they lasted. Harder to figure out how to mount maybe, but also maybe better suited for your harsh conditions.

Thanks for posting, very interesting.

interesting. You had me worried that they were Warns, kinda looked like one at first. Me, I would only go into that kind of jungle with a proven major brand winch and a full complement of snatch blocks and extension cables. (And 3x selectable lockers.)

never heard of Rude winches before but sure enough you can get them here too I just saw...

[carbones is probably what we call "motor brushes", the rubbing carbon blocks with a spring contacts?)

We do!! 4 snatch blocks, 1 tree trunk, 1 snatch winch extension, 2 shackles 4 ton, etc. But the weakness win the "battle".

Im sure the Nippon Denso is better than Warn, but yo cant get warn winches here, are to expensive. Like Usd. 2000. with that money y can buy a car, jejeje

Thanks for translation;)

Bolivia. What a beautiful country. I just got back from spending some time in Potosi & Cochabamba in April. Looks like a fun trip--I've never been in the Amazon basin--in fact never lower than 2500 m.

Cheers.
