Anyone know the size of the body bolts for positions 1,2 & 4. Position 2 is available from Toyota, but 1 & 4 are not. Also, I think 1 & 4 are the same. Need length & diameter. Also, looks like a pretty big flange or washer built into the bolt head? Guess a regular flange bolt would work, could add a fender washer if needed, right?

One and four are the same, they are approx 3/8 x 4 1/2 and have a thick washer approx 1 3/16. They are not a course thread. Don't know the metric measurements. I would get # 2 from toyota because it has a welded rectangular flanged washer and a clip to keep it from turning when you tighten the nut. It is also approx 3/8 and is approx 4 in long.

Bolts

Hi gcrum,

I'm going through the same thing with a 1980. Was able the save 4 bolts of 6.
The bolts for positions 1 and 4 are 10mm x1.25mm pitch x 110mm long.
They probably 10 to 15mm longer than they need to be. You could find them at a JIS bolt supply house. There are a few if you google JIS bolts.
You could use a 3/8 bolt as the size is similar to 10 mm and the head size at 9/16' is almost identical to 14mm The diameter is not important as the mounts crush onto the spacer to set the compression of the rubber mounts. If you use UNF thread bolts they would look almost like 10mm x 1.25mm pitch from 12'' away. If you got yellow zinc grade 8 that would look like OEM.:) The threaded end of the bolt has tapered end to make it easier to line up and assemble.

Hope this helps

Thanks jb

Greg,

How did the bolt search turn up? Get them installed? We are on the hunt for new BM bolts for the 79'...

Hi all, resurrecting an old thread here. I have a 82 hj47 and it came with only mounted with the front and rear mounts lol. I replaced everything with poly bushings, but I missed two mounts. they are the ones jsut behind the front seats, and the nut is captured in channel on the body. Icant for the life of me figure out what the threading and bolt size it needs. some people here have said its imperial? a Japanese truck with all metric hardware has one set of nuts that are imperial? I have a 10mm bolt with 1.25 thread and it seems like its not right. goes in like 1-2 threads then is really tight. I have not tried to force it as I dont want to mess up the threads of the captured bolt. someone on here must know with no shadow of a doubt what the bolt size and thread pitch has to be. right? would love to get these last two mounts in.

Thanks!

If you are referring to the #2 position, these bolts are very very specific to this location. Part number 90109-10039. They have a conical end on them and a welded on flat top. Here is a pic I pulled on google. If you are willing to wait it looks like they exist in Japan/UAE.

ahh no, thanks but I gotta be able to just buy a bolt. I got 1" Body lift pucks in there, so cant use stock bolts. Ive been able to find all the stock hardware but cant find the specs of it. the thing I need to know is the width of the bolt and the threads. I find it hard to believe that Toyota would mix imperial and metric or even thread pitch on their mount bolts, that seems very strange and unlikely. so If anyone has a bolt and can measure the thread pitch and width that would be amazing. please no "its about.." or its close to.." or "it looks like" I already know what its close to, I gotta know what it is ;)

no one? this cant be real. people talking all day about body mounts and replacement this an that and no one has a single OEM bolt to measure? no fj40 god has the answer to the threads in the captured nut? crazy.

thanks! i read that a couple other places too, and thing is I have an m10 bolt with 1.25 threads but it will only go in about a thread till it needs forcing. I put a wire brush through it to clean it out, no change. i have a .5" bolt with finer threads that feels like its supposed to thread in. theres no way they made that nut an imperial one would they? just force the 10mm 1.25 bolt? so weird to me.

Wow... @calen I'm off in the weeds. I just re-read that your nut is captured and you aren't hand threading it on there. I'm also
giving you the fj40 number....again apologies. But seriously...no...why would it be imperial on yours. Some PO has rethreaded
it or screwed the threads up...hence the reason the bolts are missing to start off with. Someone has screwed up in the past would
be my guess (pun intended)

Hey...if the bolt fits...put it on...it might be another 30 years before it has to be taken off again. I have some odd bolts on mine ... mainly because that hardened M11 in the seat belt attachment. I had to use the 7/16 fine thread on that because the M11 just doesn't exist. Go with what works.

Seat belts are the imperial anomaly at 7/16 UNF (universal size worldwide I think??).
Several of my bed mounting bolts have snapped or stretched, so maybe worth replacing all of them while you're down there.

thanks @45Dougal I guess forcing it is how ill have to proceed :)

Run a tap through them? Or if you're in the Bush then cut a slot in the side of the bolt to help clear it. Back it out often and go slow

@45Dougal lol, wow, not sure why I didnt think of doing that hahaha. something about it being in the frame haha I dont know. thanks I will 100p do that.

Just reread the post, the body bolts are metric to be clear; only the seatbelt are UNF as I understand.
My body nuts aren't captive, and you can access behind but maybe mine just took a beating on the african murram and came free?

@45Dougal Yeah its weird, its an hj47 so maybe a lil diff from a 40. but its the only mount that has a nut welded to a plate that appears to be welded to the frame. or maybe its rusted to it, doesn't look rusted tho. I hit it with a hammer and it didn't move hahaha and it looks stock. its the second mount from the front. Ithink the tap is going to work really well. should have thought of that on my own.
