CaptainKirk. I really like that gives it an updated appearance. Did yours have chrome across the front and rear bumpers like mine does?

Does anyone know if there is a spray can that will match (6M1). I know people have found a perfect match for the wheel center caps???

7schulz - mine did not have any chrome on the bumper that I recall. Nope....it didn't. I'm sure of it.

Been seriously thinking of color matching my stock bumpers as well, until I can swing the $$ to upgrade. CaptainKirk, seeing your truck has sealed the deal for me (my 97 FZJ80 is black as well) - looks really good. Interesting that you painted the step plate on the rear bumper as well, hadn't considered that. Might be a good spot for Duraback. Hmmm.

How did you prepare (strip the old paint, etc) the plastic parts of the rear bumper before painting? Mine are a bit crackly and peeling in some areas.

If you did it yourself, what products were used and what paint? It's a really nice match...

Supercell - my step plate was already black. I paid a shop who uses water born prodct (don't recall the atual name at this point) who also bakes the paint. The latter point is critical in getting the flexible paints to adhere long term. A good shop worth their salt wil offer a lifetime warranty if they have an oven/baking process. I had paint applied to the hood, both rear gates, rear window and front window removed to validate no rust under the seal, and then paint one fender and one door along with every piece of two tone trim. With the new $1000 OEM Bronze windshield, it came to approx. $5500. In my opinion a lot of work for the money, but still alot of money. Just some data for you when you decide to press forward. And thank you for yor compliments. Helps take the sting away of the money I have invested.

This is how mine looked before I installed the ARB. I bought it with the bumper painted like it shown in the pic.

That looks awesome. I got a white one and i want my bumper to match but i want to do a glossy black to the inserts and i want to paint the side panels for the rear bumper white but leave the steel colored part the way it is and make the middle of the rear bumper glossy black to match the tow hitch.

Looks nice.

I think I am going to give this a try; they can match factory paint and put it in a spray can. It's not cheap but cheaper than having a body shop do it, and I can touch up anything else I need, like the gray plastic of the running board end caps I cut off and the mud flaps.

Sorry, they didn't attach the first time.

Here's two great examples in the "for" color-matched front/rear bumpers and sliders camp...

That LX450 with the color matched bumpers looks great, i really don't mind the two tone of my truck though.. if i were to paint though i would just pull the front and rear bumper off sand it all down and prime it, then bring it to a paint shop and have them paint the bumpers the factory black.. if you do the disassemble and priming and reassembly your self with a rattle can I'm sure you could get the whole thing done for a couple of hundred bucks.

7schulz, have you thought about just painting your bumpers black? Most of the time my emerald green looks black in the sunlight anyways? You could just get Rustoleum and should do the trick, I used it to paint my chrome pieces around the headlights and painted the whole grill, it looks great. It would really update the way the bumper looked as well and touch ups would be really cheap and you could always get it rather then trying to order it when you run out.

I think was rustoleum or duplicolor, textured metalic, no primer used on plastic. I only sanded it!

I like that, looks real good! It looks like the textured bronze that I used to paint my Land Rover cup holder.

Wow....I've been contemplating options for getting rid of the ugly beige cladding on my white LX. I thought about using a regular dark gray automotive enamel paint but I was worried that it would be difficult to prep the cladding well enough to get good results. I also thought about a dark gray bed liner, but for some reason I'm having a hard time convincing myself to go that route. Maybe this textured stuff is the way to go? It would hide imperfections and it would be easy to touch up.... Interesting.

Wheels are turning!!!
