Boards on or off, tell me why.

Ok, after 1300 miles of driving in the rain and through the north, I decided to put the steps back on, at least until I get some sliders. 2 reasons really. First, I like the protection , even if slight, of road flung debris in the pinch weld area of the rockers. There was a lot of grime under there. Second, I like the look with them on. Thought I didn't, but saw a few other LC on the trip and I like the look of side boards/sliders. Glad I gave it a shot, they went back on as quickly as they came off. The truck looks taller with them off, but decided I didn't care for that skinny look, more for the tank look.

Yeah, seeing all those things underneath is unattractive to my eyes.

Same with seeing lower control arms on the new Chevy/GMC/Cadillac SUVs these days when you drive behind them…looks like sh!t.

A small point against "running boards off" still occurred to me. My girlfriend is 1.55m and must always climb without the running boards to get into the car. 😂

Well at least you didn't toss them out too soon. Your right they absolutely will keep things cleaner. And its a matter of personal preference.

When and if the day comes they do make sliders with a fill plate so it's not just tubing. I am running the BudBuilt sliders with the kicker and fill plates. Wifey loves them. I am 6'4" and have no issues getting in and out with a 2.75" lift. You also have a much better foot purchase than stock running boards for access to the roof rack and general in and out of the truck. Slee makes them as well with a fill plate and they are not aggressive looking at all. The plate keeps the small rocks from hitting the panels and is larger footprint than the stock running board.
