I’ve searched and cannot find GX460-specific instructions on a body mount chop. It would seem it is slightly different than the Tacoma or 4Runner - the “cap” that gets welded on is angled and not flat- so I’m wanting to see how much/what gets cut off.

If someone knows of a place I can get this info, I’d appreciate you sharing it!

Thanks, guys!

I dont think that Ive seen a video that is super in depth. However there is a shop near me in Ohio called D&R Motors. I remember a while back they did a build on a black gx460 and had some good photos of the Body Mount chop. Before, cut open, welded and epoxy painted, on their facebook page. I think you could cut as much or as little as needed.

I’ll check this out, thank you!

There's no exact science to it, just get close to the rubber mount. If you're purchasing premade plates, cut a little away at a time until it fits. I like the SDHQ plates because they are angled for clearance. What size tires do you have/plan on having? When I went from 33's to 35's I recut my metaltech BMC and hammered it in at an angle for more clearance. Ultimately I did the full DRT CMR mounts.

Does this help? Vid in the description. I had mine done by JW Offroad.

With all due respect, you posted a 4R BMC.
Here's the GX460 BMC: Metal Tech 2014+ Lexus GX460 Body Mount Chop Kit - https://metaltech4x4.com/metal-tech-2014-lexus-gx460-body-mount-chop-kit/
And yes there is a video, albeit, the video looks like it's generic to all the Toy's that do body mounts, so with that being said, I'd assume this video should be all you need.

Yah, I was doing it for the vid, which is the same as yours. Good call out though so it doesn’t cause confusion.

@Littlehouse and @r2m - thanks to both of you. As you identified, the thing that is throwing me off is that it appears the plates for the GC460 are angled and the other (including what they show in the video) are flat. I was trying to get an idea of where the "corner" of the angled plate would go on our GX460's - it seems it would change the way you cut it. Does that make sense? Maybe once I'm in there looking at it it would be clearer?

Here's a crappy picture of one of mine - I had a shop do it but having seen it I think I could do it at home. If you need more pictures let me know.

@jdam that helps! If you happen to have a pic with the whole thing in frame, I’d love to see it! Thank you!

Few pics of mine in this thread.

Yeah, that's what I saw - some plates are angled and some are flat.

I'm planning to run 285/70/17 with about a 1.75"-2" lift.

That's what I'm running - 285/70/17 on a 17x8.5 -10 with a 2'ish Dobinsons IMS. Mine's a pretty conservative cut and you could probably get a bit more out of it if you tried. But hopefully this gives you an idea of what to do. Just do it once and forget about it haha.
