Tuck that back up or cut out?

Leave them as they are- it’s nearing summer and those will work great to shade sun and heat.

My .02 would be to cut them off. It will be easier to put the trim pieces pack in the right place.

Thanks for the pictures, it's cool to see how they deploy. It also makes it more understandable why most cars are totaled after the airbags deploy.

Even if they could be re-used, I doubt they would be as there would be a fear of damage when they were deployed. The igniter cartridge would be used in deployment. .

No one asks how or why this happened?

Somewhat covered in an earlier thread:

Partially drop the headliner, cut them, buy new ones, re-install and you are done.
It also looks like your driver seatbelt pretensioner is toasted too. Replace that also

Remember to disconnect the battery during the process.

Is installing the new ones relatively that easy?

You could call 5 Star Airbag in Jacksonville AR. That guy knows pretensioners and side airbags very very well and is very reasonable.

A few bolts and connectors. There's not much to it
The most annoying parts is to partially drop the headliner

Does it run without a code? Did you have to replace the airbag ecu, or reflash to remove crash data?

Dropping the head liner is really not that bad. Best to do it with two people to help fish it out of the vehicle.

Im not sure what was the cause of the airbags to deploy but as soon as they get replaced you will have to scan the vehicle and check for codes.
On a front end collision for example, the front airbag sensor would have to be replaced. Lets say the vehicle slid and hit a curb sideways, the side impact sensors will not have to be replaced.
Only a scanner will tell you what sensor triggered the airbags.
Crash data will be cleared once the codes are cleared
Once everything is done, the only evidence of the airbags being deployed will be the ripples on the headliner.
