Black Trim?

I used Plasti Dip on all of the emblems and trims

Any reason you chose to leave the chrome in the cladding even though you covered the rest up? That was the first thing I did on both of mine when I started to black out the chrome.

It still doesn't look to me like the door trim /molding/ cladding going around the LX was painted. If so how hard was it to mix the color to something so close to factory paint with the Plasti Dip mix your own color kit? Everything on the LX pictured that was Plasti Dip'd looks like it was done in black to me.

Bookye - Are you saying you painted the trim on the all doors and all around the vehicle (with the chrome strip in it) with Plasti Dip?

No, he means the chrome trim on the tailgate and on the front grille. The cladding is factory painted.

I used Plasti Dip on all of my trim, its easy and don't need sanding and prime.

This is the best looking lx ive seen.

This truck is bad!

Anyone else used Plasti Dip on Wheels? I was going to get mine powder coated once the caps came in, but is there is success with the plasti dip that might be worth a shot. Makes me think I should plasti dip my emblems too, white and black would look pretty nice.

IIRC Dobie has plasti-dipped his rims. They look great.

Also, to follow up with this thread. I didn't paint the trim on my 100 black. I used a GM gunmetal gray on the emblems and side trim. It looks much better and is holding up great.

I hate to revive this but how hard is it to get the trim off. What are the ins and outs of it? What are the chances of doing permeant damage to the metal.

I like the black trim...

Did you remove your trim to paint it? Also what prep did you do?

I did not pull the trim. I taped it off, sanded it smooth with 400 grit sand paper. Primed and shot 3 coats on it. Still holding up well, despite all the scratches and sitting outside for several months.
