I tilted my windshield down a few years ago and replaced the frame to cowl rubber seal because I was getting a leak on the accel pedal during heavier rains. The sheet metal seam on the cowl (under rubber) was pretty corroded but since my truck lives in the desert I didn't worry too much. Chang-kuao-lo, the frame itself should be replaced (I know, $$$) but if treated right it should last another 20 years.

You might be able to find a used one out of Stedman, but freight and all might just warrant getting one from a US dealer on TLCA etc discount..

Also, you can get the one piece rubber weatherstrip and skip the chrome locking insert from Toyota.
(two different weatherstrips, one with locking strip and one without)

What is a "chrome locking insert"? Who has the one piece weatherstrip? Unit is getting a frame-off restoration, don't mind the $ for a replacement bib. Just want to know how to prevent it from going to crap again. :hhmm: Methinks a 6mm hole or two somewhere on the interior side of the bib, somewhere readily accessible to spray in more anti-corrosive in at a later date. Just put some flat rubber stopper thingys in the holes.

Don't think you need to drill extra holes if you're using the holes where the hinges go, the holes for the jesus bar bolts, the upper door frame bolts and the places the sunvisors are attached and the hose you're using has a decent length (mine was about 50 cm/20 inches - still use the same type of cans) you can easily reach every corner of the bib.
If you do it right the first time and use a good quality rustprevention goo, there will be no need to spray at a later date.
Try to prevent the rusting process to start. Once rust has started to form it will be very hard to stop the process - if you can stop it at all.

If your looking from AUS maybe try Matser Auto parts (perth) he specialises in landcruiser parts thats were mate with the fiberglass window frame got his new steel one . Thats also were i get all my goodies from ,cheaper than other places ive tryed

Hi Clint, the name is "Matser Auto Parts" or "Master Auto Parts"???, if you can help me to find a e-mail to contact... :hhmm:

Thanks Mate!!!

I'm currently in an e-mail dialogue with Dave at Japan4x4 for pricing on a new frame and shipping - Mine has been "fixed" once before I got the LC, and needs to be done again. Dave's guess is that shipping 10 by sea will be the same cost as 1 by air, so is anybody else in BC/AB interested in a windshield frame at this time?

Dave said he would get back to me tomorrow.

Jim
