The BJ71 / BJ74 clutch slave cylinder #31470-60140 has been discontinued.
The BJ70 / BJ73 clutch slave cylinder #31470-60130 is available
Does anyone know the difference? Will the available unit work in a BJ74?
Yes I know the rebuild kit is available but I would prefer a new one

Call John @ Radd Cruisers in Duncan.
There are two types, I just put the earlier version in my '88 BJ74. I ended up grabbing a used one out
of a donor vehicle ( I got lucky it was still essentially new ).
This is a crappy pic of the used one, and a new one I bought from Radd but didn't use. So is yours like the old rusty one, or the new one with the angle?

We stock the OEM 60130 (Our part# CSN60130OEM) and the AISIN version (Part# CSN60130N) the same other than a bit of grinding and the color ;)

I'm pretty sure we have the 60140 in the system too.

Re the 60130 vs. the 60140 variant, I'm pretty sure they are the same dimensions with the exception of the hard line fitting location which is straight out of the cylinder on the BJ71/74 application due to the turbo? Or is it the angle of the bleeder? Does that ring a bell with anyone?

My BJ74 is the 60140 and looks just like 60130. Thanks for the pics. I ended up ordering one from Rad. I'll report back if theirs any differencesView attachment 1349635

Interesting, the mystery continues. I'm a few minutes away from a couple different BJ7x's so I'll have to peak.

Yeah I got that part number from entering my VIN on both the TOYOTA EPC and TOYODIY. Its specific to only BJ74's and BJ71's

Agreed, I ran a few different BJ71/74 year variations and all come back to the 60140 BUT your pictures jives with the 60120/60130. Perhaps the difference is insignificant and that is why RADD is using the 60120/60130 to cover 71/74 applications.

I'm convinced the difference was the fitting location but I've now found multiple vendors overseas utilizing the same fitting orientation for both the BJ70/73 &71/74, at a minimum it's confirmed they will both work.

A 1HZ slave might even work. I used a BJ7* clutch fluid line onto a 1HZ slave and it fitted like it was made to be there. Might just be a matter of swapping the clutch rod

A bit of an update. I recieved the new slave cylinder ftom Radd Cruisers. Its not the OEM 60130 listed on the website. It is a Drivetech 073-001217. Here is a comparison shot of it next to the original BJ74 OEM 60140. As you can see the shaft and body from the mounting holes forward to the hose end are a little longer. However from the mounting holes back is the same and the shaft extends out the body and appears to travel out the same distance. I will report back with final results

I sure hope this works out for you. Looks like not going to be an issue now.

I'm still trying to sort the difference between the 60130 and 60140. The only known 60140 pics I can find look identical to the 60130 (see my pics above) and the Drivetech 073-001217 cylinder shown by @Malahki does in fact look different than the OE 60130 and AISIN variant so perhaps that is the 60140? We do a fair bit with Drivetech so I have a pallet of their stuff being worked up and I've tossed some of those and a handful of others I could find in their app guide on our next order. We're going to get to the bottom of this :D

I did find this picture searching for the 60140, it appears to have the same relative mounts and bleeder bu the hose comes in from the rear at a different angle. No clue if this is right or wrong.

^^ That's the one that I just replaced with a used one from a truck out back. I just assumed
that was the right one cause it was like the bad one. It works, so I'm happy for now and it was
in my parts supply.

An answer hath appeared!

I received a stock order from AISIN today and had some more of the various cylinders back in stock to play with. While the body of the black and grey cylinders appears identical from the outside, the inner guts tell the real story :D

Black Body (Our Part# CSN60130OEM & CSN60130N) has 15/16" (23.8mm) bore & 70.5mm rod
Grey Body (Our Part# CSN60140N) has 7/8" (22.2mm) bore & 76mm rod

We've got the full cylinders and the rebuild kits here in stock
