It is a rectangular rubber block with metal stud plates vulcanized on opposite sides. Yours is broken.
Allow me to interpret:
It's not square
It's rubber / metal and vulcanized (whatever that is)
and yours is broken. :)

Oh, that reminds me.

Clearly, Ben, you have been sold a defective and deficient vehicle. Suggest you sell it as soon as possible - try to recover some of your improvement budget. I MAY be able to find someone to take it off your hands......:)
Is the exhaust hanger supposed to be attached to the exhaust? Or does it just rest there in place?

After bouncing down off the mountain today, made a right turn back on the main road and heard the exhaust smacking into the passenger rear tire.

I removed the rubber bumper from the frame and it looks like it just sits in place and is not permanently attached to the exhaust? Pushed it back into place so won't make any hard right turns for the time being!

Can I just send mine off for re-vulcanization?! ;)

@torfab to the rescue. He's got two sitting on the shelf. Either that or two he's willing to steal from an unsuspecting owner of an immobile truck that's sitting in his yard!!!!

Pretty sure they fell off at some point along the way :)

Fireball.... Can I just send mine off for re-vulcanization?! ;)

It's a painful process and not reversible.

Guys, this thread is right on topic for me as I'm contemplating fitting the full Dakar leaf spring set to my 85 BJ73. The front springs are shot with just about 1/2" clearance between the bump stop and axle. Problem I have is that the parking garage at work only has a few inches clrearance as it is so I'm reluctant to fit if I can't get a warm and fuzzy feeling that I'll still be able to get the ol' girl through the door. For those of you that have fitted the Dakar heavy springs up front and the mediums in the rear, can you tell me what overall clearance you have between the bump stop and axle please?

I have the OEM porch with PTO and bullbar up front and a 32x11.5 spare at the back with the OEM bumper.

I've trawled through numerous 'leaf spring' posts but can't find this specific info.

Many thanks
