Soooo.....
I have been doing a little chasing around re suspension.
The prices I have for full kit. Springs, shocks, greasable shackles and pins.

Dobinsons $2200
Ome $2200 including steering damp
Tough dog $1600
Ironman $1450

Are the dobinsons and ome really worth the extra cash?

Old man emu are the best there

Tough dog are alright
Robinson alright

Iron man is pretty s***

Hi Haddees, I have just about finished a 40series chassis with 80 series suspension all round with a 12HT with a 43 sports fibreglass tub.

Now I just bought a RJ70 rolling chassis which has coils all round which I am going to put a 12HT into, how did the 12ht go with the distance from the fire wall to the radiator, someone said there is about 100 short fall in distance and you have to use a electric radiator fan?

Hey. I didn't put it in, I bought it like this. The engine mounts are forward of the existing ones around 100-150mm from memory. Does not have electric fan, the 13bt has a much bigger fan shroud so I guess the fan shroud has been cut back. It's a little tight in there but fits pretty good.

i could possibly take some measurements for you if you need any.

So it looks like the radiator bolts onto brackets that are bolted onto the front bib apron and slightly behind the cross member?

Also is your 73 a leaf spring front?
Yeah the crossmember is directly under the grill and the radiator is just behind. I'm not sure if this has been changed. All the brackets look like from factory but I can't be certain.
The 73's and 74's have leafs all round.

I have installed a dobinsons snorkel. The quality of the product was not great at all. The snorkel head is too big for the body, even done up tight you can push it off with one finger. I got some rubber and wrapped it on the inside to make it work.
The aluminium cast where to snorkel attaches to the air box was very poor. The inlet was not round and it didn't fit over the snorkel so I had to grind the inside to make it fit.
The actual snorkel body looks to be ok, the template was good.
The final result is good but installation was not the most fun. To be honest I think that an eBay cheapy would be just as good but 1/3rd the price.

I had heard that dobinson snorkels were poor quality I have one the same that I got for free with a bull bar absolute s*** will be waiting for a while till I buy a snorkel for my 75 series

Your 70 looks good.

With this build of mine, putting a 40 body on a RJ70 chassis is forcing me to work backwards. I will have to place the fibreglass tub on for testing and centre the rear wheel arches even over the back wheels. I then will have cut and move the body/step supports back a little (see below)

Next thing will be to move forward the chassis engine mounts.

So is the rj70 chassis similar to the bj73 towards the front? At what point does it become shorter?

interesting about 33's rubbing i have a bj70 similar to a bj73 i guess just shorter?

stock suspension no lift sagged up front and the front tyres never rub anywhere
when of road the rear only just touch the inner wheel well just enough to take the under coating of but that's at full articulation only.

there 33 12.50 15 federal courigia
