Anyone have a nice design for 70-series sliders, BJ73 in particular? This may be hoping a lot, but maybe even that doesn't require relocation of the exhaust?

Kelly and I crushed the rocker panel on her 73 this weekend. Charla is going to s***. :frown:

i know Cruisin' does some nice work. Too bad hes a bit far away.
You can buy replacement rockers..... I think there around 200 bucks.

Don't know how bad the shipping from Vancouver would be, but Jason @ Cruisin Off Road built me some beaut sliders for my BJ74. It's the 74 on his web site:

Hmm.... maybe I can mudship them to you in November????

I had these built for my BJ70 by 4x Innovations. http://4xinnovations.com/ For me, we used a 40-series design, but with a custom length since my truck is different. Presumably, the same technique would work for a middy.

Welded to the chassis? Definately would make the vehicle unregisterable here.

But they look effective. You can also put a steel mesh on top to stop the mud coming through and splashing in the windows - or in our country COW s*** :( or to stop your foot slipping through when slippery and muddy.

The sliders shipped with pre-drilled plates, so I had the option of finishing with a bolt-on design. I just didn't see myself ever taking them off, though.

I have some just like cayman dennis.

generic ones everyone seems to sell for under 200 bucks. I skinned the tops so they'd look kinda like the original running boards.

Had to shorten them a bit to fit my 70, but might be perfect length for a 74.

welded them to my frame too. too lazy to build removeable mounts.

Awesome guys, looks like this is what I need, I really like Jason/Cruisin' Offroad's stuff. Kelly wanted to get the running boards back on her 73, but I think I've convinced her that sliders are better.

And OEM rockers are still available from Toyota, maybe this isn't so bad after all.

Jason sent me some pictures today of my sliders ready for paint. Looking great! Great guy to deal with if you're ever in the market...

Since we're on this subject, does anyone have ARB sliders? the ones that atach to the front of the bumper, if so, can you post detailed pics of the mounting points?(where they meet the chassis) I want a local shop to fabricate a copy for me.

Got my sliders a week or two ago, helpfully brought from Canada via MudShip.

Unfortunately this means I have to fix that rocker, which I've been putting off. Sigh.

Yes, that pink stuff is bondo; I couldn't help it, I don't have the skills to cut and weld new metal in. I tried to keep the filler to a minimum.
