Hello gang. I've searched around quite a bit but can't seem to find a definitive answer...

What is the weight of a 1985 BJ70? (CAN spec)

Thanks,
Jason

I've got 2049kg on my registration.. dunno how accurate that is though.

This is strange...

on my regisrtation: 2380
on the truck info plate (in the driver door) : 2380
on the local junk yard scale : 2120 (with a full tank, all the familly and all my recovery equipment)

and I remember masteryota's registration show a different weight... combien matt sur tes papier ?

lol.....well as I said, I can't seen to find a clear answer.... :D

Thanks,
Jason

Don't forget to factor in the 200 lbs less metal today from when it was new due to rust. ;)

This is from the 1985 Toyota Landcruiser Brochure.

"CURB WEIGHT: (kg/lbs.) 1750/3858 HT 1935/4266 SW"

I can email the brochure, but it's too large to post.

If you wouldn't mind I would love to have a copy of the brochure. I'll PM you my e-mail address.
Thanks,
Jason

I have weighed my BJ75 on a weight used for controls of veichle weights. The weight was 2150 kgs.

This was my setup:
no spare tire, little diesel (<40 liters), 50 kgs of luggage, two front seats only, 33x12.5-15 X-terrains on alu-rims, me inside.

I guess a BJ70 should be a little lighter.

why would it be lighter?

The 75 has a wheel base of 2980 mm (~117") and the 70 is 2310 mm (~91"). Assuming that the said BJ75 is not a cab & chassis, that's 670 mm (~26") less body/frame.

Probably a rookie question but what is "HT" and "SW" ?

thanks,
J

I got the 2300k weight from the landcruiser bible from SOR where it lists the specs for all models. It actually said net weight was 1790 ang gross 2300...

Hard top

Station wagon

My 86 BJ70 (24v system CAN spec) came in at 3910lbs actual weight, mine has 33"x10.0x15 BFG AT tires with 33"x9.5x15 BFG AT spare and AXT turbo and 2.5" pipes. That is all the stuff I can think of that might change the weight, oh the wheels were stock steel chrome wheels all else is pretty much stock.

Cheers,

Michael

Yes, forgot to mention. My 75 is a troop carrier.

Weighed my '85 BJ70 today and it's 4240 lbs. 1/2 tank of fuel, 235's on 15x8 wagon wheels, spare tire on board, stock bumpers with no add ons. Minus the fuel, I guess it'd be around 4100 lbs.

I weighed my 1986 BJ74 LX at a certified truck scale today. She came in at 5,240 lbs. She has Pro-Line steel bumpers, steel wheels, and an 18,000 lb severe service military winch which weighs 175 lbs. This should give you guys a decent idea of what a Toyota 70 series weighs in at.
