BJ45 troopy! !

We also own a BJ45 with a 3B diesel engine. Indeed, they aren't very fast and make some noise at higher speeds. But it is still one of the best looking cruisers we think. We try to avoid highways because most trucks are faster than we are. On many stretches of European highways it is forbidden for trucks to overtake, which means that we with our BJ45 are in the front of a long line of pushing trucks

It was not easy to find a good one in Europe. We (Dutch), got one from France. The engine was still in very good condition, but the bodywork needed a lot of attention. We made a short video about the work we had to do before the BJ45 was ready to go on a longer trip (to the Middle East). We eventually drove around 24K kilometres with only a few flat tyres

Hey Babakator, nice to see another Dutch couple travelling with an original BJ45 I didn't know your website before, also not through the local Landcruiser club. I'm sure you know the website http://www.landcruisering.nl?

About the speed, we never had to stay behind to trucks on the highway. I usually drove it a bit under 100km/h. In fact, I even reached 130km/h on the GPS on a flat road! So it's not that slow. But it's way to noisy, and fuel consuming. And bad for the car on the long term.

You're right. The BJ45 can go faster than 80-85 km/h, but it makes driving less comfortable (noise) and economical. If we stay around 80 km/h we drive 1:10 (10 km for 1 litre of Diesel = 23 miles to the gallon). Our BJ45 has only 4 gears. I know some people have 5 gears which makes it probably much more comfortable to drive on higher speeds.

We were once member of the Dutch Land Cruiser club, we left it because we are not that much in The Netherlands. But we know your website. We follewed it when you were traveling with your white BJ45.
