Saw this on ebay and thought it was interesting. It's a 1977 BJ40 - Diesel with no reserve. From reading the add I couldn't tell whether it was a scam or not as there have been some lately. I did think the payment terms were a little odd but at least being as close as it is you could close the deal in person and know for sure if it's legit or not. Here's the link:

The current bid as of time of posting was $1,000. I am not associated and know nothing about this cruiser so please pursue at your own risk. The color is yellow but it looks to be in awesome shape. :grinpimp:

I sent the guy an email to see if I could come see it in person even though I think it is a scam.

If you put in the min bid, you can request the users contact information with phone number.

I bid on it. Ill gladly drive 2 hours if it is real. I would not send a deposit but rather pick it up in person.

Interesting that the plate is not a SC plate. Not a SC dealer plate either. It almost looks like the plate says Panama across the top.

Someone on the board needs to pick that up if it's real!

I got an email back from the guy. I'd asked him if I could go to Gaffney and see this vehicle in person. His reply was that he would be back from Central America on Thursday but said nothing about me being able to come and see the truck. Just thought I'd let everybody know.

I got the same message so I got a little worried. Searched around and found this website:

Appaprently the guy bought a heavily damaged audi from the guy. The guy appears to be a professor at Clemson.

I think Im going to pass on this one unless I can come look at it personally.

Ouch, yeah good find on that website.

The hubby and I were looking at the Ebay link last night. I couldn't figure out why the BJ looked to be on flat ground but the Cruiser was sitting funny. That link looks to have had the answers.. Be careful guys..

I didnt even really notice it until I saw that link. Look at this picture. The body looks kind higher on one side than the other. Also note how the tub on the pasenger side angles up to hardtop.

most old 40's have the dreaded "cruiser lean", I know mine did when I first got it

I know the lean but look at the body. It doesnt look like suspension lean but that the body is kind "twisted" for lack of a better description. Could it just be poor body work from the "off frame restoration" or someone not taking time to ensure proper panel alignment. If you look at the pictures a lot of the panels look poorly fitted

I agree.. For a Frame off Resto. And the comments made on that link about all the problems. I'm not too impressed by the pictures.

No doubt it's twisted. I noticed that when looking at the frontal pictures. The hood looks twisted compared to the roofline and bumpers.

Maybe it is just me but I think this cruiser has spent some time at the beach, it smells fishy.
