no i didnt weld in crush tubes i welded in a 1/4 plate at the back of the frame for support , and yes iam putting all four bolts on there, theres only 2 in the pic because its just for mock up all four will be fitted when mounting for real.
i dont have any radiator interference as my cruiser is a right hand drive..... the only thing i have to fit is the top radiator steady which will bolt onto the new battery carrier..........
iam planning on using the standard bj40 steering column in conjuction with a pillow block bearing and the 70 steering linkage i post pic as soon as iam ready for this
i post a pic of the shock mount .....but its pretty simple i just grinding of the forward faceing web and the web close to the engine side..

progress has been a bit slow still waiting on my bulkhead the engineering company thats doing the welding for me promised me he would have iy done this week but then again he said that 3 weks ago.....
since then i have been scouring the net for parts ....and did some powder coating got the roll cage done and the heater box air filter box etc....they all turn out great also got my seats have a look

i think there exactly what i was after ....i was going to go for leather but with the soft top and irish weather i said i better go for pvc ..easy clean and they dont mind water they recline and slide for adjustment

was going to use the old steel aprons for the front but there not in great condition so i ordered new one in alloy from bob at aqua

i didnt import the tub someone else did i found it for sale by pure accident and bought it at a snip of the price less shipping lucky eh especially when theres only about 3 or 4 bj40 on the road over here

Nice job. Thats a heap of work. Will it be easy to get it licensed to drive on the road?I know that most of the vehicles are very new and that older rigs get a very thourogh going over,saftey/emissions. was in Ireland this time last year with sons rugby club. Kids saw Ireland beat Scotland in Six Nations. We watched in Pub @Temple Bar. Irish and Scotts partying and getting along, it was crazy.How come the convert to RHD? Could you have left it LHD. All the Landrover guys will think you are mad.

yes no problem as its classed as a classic vehicles so theres no problem with emissions and the cruiser is originally rhd and the tub i got is left hand drive

Cruiser sold on ebay

Its a such pity after all the hard work had been done,That this cruiser was sold on ebay on the 13-02-08 unfinished for £5,500($8,900).I was looking forward myself to seeing pictures of the jeep finished .

That is a shame, I just read thru this thread expecting to find a well-on restoration, its not as if he didnt seem to have the shillings although he could've knocked out a few stones and put a wide head into that doorway and got the poor thing in out of the rain.

When I read that he had got the parts cheap off someone else who had imported them I remembered a fella called Jack in Dublin somewhere aroundabout '04/'05 who was trying to move a load of alu parts he had imported but wasnt gonna be needing. He wanted $7K. Wonder what they went for in the end. When I look back I remember thinking that he hadnt got all the panels necessary and especially the back door thing was goin to throw a few curve balls. The way noc the OP was setting things up was for a soft top, different from the original design. It would drive me insane to think I had bought a half resto'd cruiser only to find I didnt know what was missing!

This project has just moved to the UK. I bought the on going project today and just arrived home so I will be asking questions and trying to get things started again soon. I already have one I bought from Oz so I am hoping this is going to help me see what I am missing and where i need to go.
