u can see where i grinded the old steering bracket of the frame
the problem i have no where to store the cruiser when i am finished as only the front half fits in the garage and after i work it has to go back outside under a cover and its hard to to keep it in our irish weather as it feels like it doesnt want to stop raining

iam still waiting for my front bulkhead to come back from the fabricators ....as its an aluminium bulkhead that came in from the US was left hand drive so there changing the bits around for me as i dont have a mig welder if it were steel i would have done it my self
anyway thanks for the replys
btw
i converted to discs on the front as well
so really need my bulkhead back

best of luck on the build up

I spent some time in Kilkenny and Dublin. I love Ireland.
hopefully I will get back over there sometime.

Cheers:beer:

Yes i was looking for over a year to find one that age and in good condition. Going over there again in March/April so hopefully it will be there by then. Only thing stopping me now is i need a broker in Dublin to handle the paperwork. Not sure when i will be sending the container yet but should be around May or so. Offer still stands on the parts and if you let me know what you need i can probably find some bits locally and send them over...

Nice progress on your build and I must say that I am looking forward to following your thread. I work for Aqualu Industries and it is very interesting to see that one of our aluminum tubs has made it over to Ireland. I understand that you are having the aluminum cowl(bulkhead) converted over to RHD? I would really like to see some images of the conversion. If there are any areas of the tub and the cowl that I may be able to help with with please feel free to send me an email (bmcdonald@aqualu.com).

there is one question about the bulkhead why was there nothing built into the front bulkhead for fitting the hinges for the doors...? i am going to have to cut slots in the door post to fit the hinges ....i havent a pic at the minute as its away getting the conversion done but once i get it back i post a pic or two otherwise its quite a nice piece of kit everything on the tub fits nicely with no problems
i also have aluma front fenders and windsreen surrond and half doors .....everything is going to be alloy except the hood and side panels over the fenders...

is the cruiser going to ireland??

Yes, the cruiser is going to Ireland, should be there about mid March at this point.
With all that alloy your using make sure the gypos don't know about it.

So is there any Toyota clubs that you know of in Ireland for support ect?
What about the upper body/cab, How's the rust in these areas?
Nice work...

If you send me an email at work (bmcdonald@aqualu.com) I can forward some images to you which will help you out with the door hinge area. It sounds like you have been short shipped on a couple of pieces for mounting the doors.

Indeed noc23..... cruisers tubs d'ont like the european climate (remaking my tail tub from rvs stainless steel:D).
If you still need parts give a mail, parts are custom at Belgium and shipping fees should be less (i think).
Here is a link to a shop in belgium http://240plan.ovh.net/~extremex/acceuil.htm
just a pitty it's in french lang. if you go to carrosserie then the icon of the 40 you can see the parts in steel, polyester or even the alutubs imported from Alumacruiser.;)

right just an update ....some parts arrived from australia this week ...full set of tie rods new shoes for the rear, new rear brake cylinders, new set of free wheeling lockers....also ordered new shoes for the front before i found the disc brake so if anyone want a set there going a begging...
went to fit the rear shoes and found out i fitted the back plates the wrong way around left on right and vise and versa..so i had to take back out the rear drive shafts again and had to reseal the diff cover Again..........anyway got them fitted.

my mud tyres also arrived today as well.........
the pic show them beside a 10" mini wheel just to see the difference in size
as iam a big mini fan and a race historic mini
heres a pic of her at a show .............

Wow, nice work. You've come a long way from that rust pile you started with. Good luck and keep posting your progress.
