Hello everibody, this is my first message. I´m writting from Spain. I´m sorry about my English. :o

I have the opportunity, to buy in a good price a BJ-70 3.5D from 1988.

My doubt is that, ¿340.000 kms is too much?

I want my TOY only for 4x4 tracks, and travels in Morocco.

Thanks, greetings.

Manu

Maybe it has that VM engine made by the Italian company

or he could be rounding up instead of down...
if the truck has a track record and if you can get the compression checked and the coolant pressure tested when hot and the test come back positive then there is a good chance it is a solid unit...
cheers

Spain(or maybe Portugal) did get a different motor if I recall, I have a bunch of Spainish 70 lit around someplace

Hola Manu, bienvenido.

Hello Manu, welcome. Disculpame by bad my espanol. I am in agreement with Wayne/crushers -- an inspection does and tries to check compression of the motor. But also it has well-taken care of yet, clear that there is but that the motor, specially the transmission -- mia has the same one almost I number of kilometros and this good although the syncros do not work perfectly when this fria. The previous axis normally requires service, but if it is not an indication that the dueno maintained it well. Good -- the rest of the problems is such to qualquier car. Normally 340.000 are not too kilometros by a Landcruiser, but if you are going to use it like vehiculo of expedition in Morocco, quizas you prefer something with less kilometros. I if. I am going to visit Espana by the third east time November -- it enchants to me. Brendan

don't you love alta vista translate?

Thanks every body, Brendan your Spanish is better than my English.

The engine is a 3.4l 3B 4 cylender. Not the VM, that is a very bad engine.

I Know that the engine is in very good conditions, and the owner do a good maintainance. I will check the transmission. This saturday I´m going to drive the truck, and I will take a decision.

On the other hand the truck has a T-max winch, and a rear 100% locker, I don´t know if the rear locker is an ARB, or something like that, or is an original TOYOTA locker. ¿Do you something about this point?

Thanks again.

Lol too bad the translation is so horrible... mainly because I don't know how to use/we don't have the spanish character set here on MUD so it mixes up words. Oh, you get the jist of it.

Manu--if the rear locker is a Toyota cable locker, then it's very good--a lot of people seem to pay a lot to get those factory axles installed on their rigs. People have differing opinions if ARB is better, but I would generally say simpler is better and the cable lockers are highly valued because of this. On the other hand, if it's ARB then you also have an on-board air compressor which can be useful other than just for locking the diff.

Yes the 3B is an outstanding engine, and can be easily turbo charged if you like. If well maintained 500,000 km is not unheard of. See this post

https://forum.ih8mud.com/showthread.php?t=54296

Again as others have said, if well maintained 340,000 kms is NOT a lot for a Landcruiser, especially a diesel, especially a 3B.

Hola Manu welcome .

Anycase, buy it and go with saving money status, always is a old car, and you must to perform some repairs, and if you need to do hole engine, 3k eur for a really good overhaul.

hehe, he's talkin funny talk

Hello.
NorCalCruzr, thanks for the link, it was so interesting. I hope that my future BJ70, stills runnig hard to 500.000 kms....and mooore.

This afternoon i´m going to drive my (I hope) TOY. I´m nervous....I love this truck.

TO WISH ME LUCK!!

Hi dude .. well I continue in english, coz is a USA forum .. ;)

I know 2 tipes of selectable lockers, that function with Toy axles, Toyota ( cable / electric ) and ARB. Both are realy good, off course Toy better than ARB. Let us know what type do you have in your TLC.

P.S. recomendation, do not user NEVER your ARB compresor to inflate tires. In extreme situation. maybe, but for this purpose buy a standard electric ( cheap ) compresor and safe your ARB compresor, to do real important job.
