  2. Ok no one else will step up to the plate i am going to see how many people are interested. Not sure if two of these will fit in a priority small box. So i am not sure what to charge for shipping from missouri to you in the states. They will sell them to us for $90 plus shipping. The more we buy the cheaper the shipping. Just to ship 5 sets is $130 in shipping charges that is the cheapest they will ship. Paypal fees are going to cost 3 or 4 dollars. I think we can get these for $126 total per set but we have to buy a min of ten. Other wise the cost for shipping goes up. I will start taking names to see if we can get enough people interested. I will take two 8 to go. Send me a pm if your interested in a group buy. Once we have the min i will send you a pm on paypal instructions. We will see what the interest is.

I am in also. At least one pair, perhaps two. I'm doing my front axle in May and this would be a great way to finish it off.

Will these work on a 40/55 series axle? Only vehicle mentioned on the site that was imported to the US is the 80 series

I have to wonder how well those would stand up to brush. I can see them getting torn up pretty quickly when you are busting trail through alder and willow patches.

They look cool and at first blush are appealing. But after some thought, they seem like a solution in search of a problem.

Mark.

The Gearing Dynamics website seems to be currently (4/15/2014) running a sale on a pair of these shipped for $115 AU ($108 USD)
I will have to look into this as this is not what I got from them when I emailed them that shipping was $130. I will email them again to verify. If what you say is true then that changes how we would proceed in figuring the cost to do a group buy. It may take a day to hear back from them as when I email them I am not sure it goes through because I get a message failed error from hotmail.

The later knuckles (late '70, '80 & 105) are bigger, these wont fit the earlier knuckles, maybe he is running an '80 axle?

Agree 100%.

I thought they were different. Just thought as a group buy it's something everybody should know. This is the 40/55 section and the number of people running a 80 axle in a 40 or 55 series is not very large.

My first thoughts as well. They have a split in them and I can see muddy water collecting inside the boot and being held there. Also you have to remove the boot in order to see whether or not your seals have failed.

I sent an email to the vender specifically asking if it would fit the FJ40. Maybe I need to specify the year, I thought all the FJ40's were the same front carriage size as a stock OEM?

I believe the size is the same all the way thru end of the 60 series. You can use 60 series knuckles to convert birfield 40 series axle to disc brake. The same doesn't hold true with 80 series. The numbers on the site are not years but models.

What do the boots protect the Birf from?
