Has anyone installed a biometric (thumb print) lock box in, or in place of, their center console? I am interested in what fits & looks good. Thanks. :)

Maybe it is just paranoia but I would never want to make one of my body parts valuable to a criminal, body parts are easily removed but difficult to reinstall and usually don’t work right afterwards.

Standard locks are preferable IMO

Ok??

I'm looking for something offering a high degree of security ... and ... fast opening. I have s few ideas from products found on the web. I was just interested if anyone has mounted one of these lock boxes in their cruiser. So...maybe I'll be the first. ;p

I want to rig up a keypad ignition like in the Transporter. That would be cool.

How about a retina scanner in the sun visor? All that James Bond stuff is cool.

Nevermind

Nevermind....I think you missed the ......oh, just nevermind.

:hillbilly:

Ok, seriously. Have you looked at any of the handgun locking cases? I had a buddy who had a cool case on his nightstand by his bed. He just put his hand into a hole that had five buttons for the combo in the shape of a hand. You enter the code and it opens up. Three false codes and it has to be opened with the key to reset it. Pretty slick and very James Bond mounted in a vehicle. You might get some funny looks from the PoPo if you get pulled over, but as long as you weren't packin'...

Here is the one I think he had. I guess it isn't a hole for your hand, but you see what I mean. You hit the combination of fingers and the hatch pops open. Cool.

That's what I was looking for. Thanks. The reason for it is that I WILL be packing.

I'm not gun law savvy ~ would that be considered a concealed weapon if it were locked away in a gun safe box mounted in a vehicle? Seems like it would be the same as locking it in a glove box and you hear of people getting pinched for that all the time.

If it's unloaded, locked, and out of reach of the driver I would think you'd be okay.

I've been thinking about welding a metal sleeve under the bed of my trail 4Runner, with a waterproof locking end so I can keep a short shotgun in it while out camping/wheeling. That way it's easy to access (from outside the truck) but protected from theft and prying eyes. Could even put a sticker on the end that says "oil" and run some dummy lines to the engine compartment.

You can pack conceled carry in WV. Actually, in Kentucky you can have a gun in your glove box, unlocked and loaded WITHOUT a CCW permit. Not in the console, but in the glovebox is ok.

C6H12O6 that depends on the state, one would have to look at your state laws, in some states concealed in a locked compartment would be OK, aparently in others it is not,

Here in GA you can cary loaded in an umlocked or locked compartment without a permit.

http://www.packing.org is a good place to look but it apears to be down right now?

Yep. Actually with the appropritate concealed carry permit(s) one can carry legally in 37 states. If you are going to carry concealed, it does no good to carry unloaded!
