Hello

On my 12HT engine, the bimetal vacuum switching valve does not
function any more. It controls the "idle up" fuction of the engine, when it is
cold. It is no big deal, but I would like to get the system working correctly
again.

Toyota does not deliver the part anymore.( They should, it is their obilgation to do so-do you hear that MR. TOYOTA!!)

So my question to you, Can I find the correct part somwhere? The correct Toyota
partnumber is:
23262 Valve, bimetal vacuum switching No1.
90925-05052

Thanks.

BjarniThor,

I recall others have found something suitable from a Celica of the similar vintage. It's a matter of getting that works on the same temperature parameters. Some more searching might come up with the solution.

What's happened to yours? Have the barbs broken off?

So, that part makes sure you do not need to fiddle with the throttle knob on a cold morning?

Thanks for that Rosco.

I'm not after one myself, but I'd heard they were ridiculously expensive or not available any more. But if they are on the Corolla's then there are tons of them around in wrecking yards just waiting to be relieved of said valve.

Darthvincor - yes.
It is a temperature activated switch on the vacuum line. It is also plumbed into the switch that comes on when your air cond is on and either one will trigger the idle up to activate and knock up the revs by enough to maintain a steady idle.

Thanks Tim. I wish the 2H has a device like that.

Looks like there are plenty of cars to choose from that had such a device. There ought to be at least one at a local wreckers. Good luck, Thor.

The 12ht is 24v and the cars listed are 12v not sure if thats going to work.

Won't make difference. There is no electrical connection, just vacuum lines.

And if you're searching the wrecking yards, here's some more specific details:
