Hello all,
While having my tires rotated and aligned on my daily driver 1999 LC, I just found out that the right front shock is leaking. I was thinking of replacing them anyway, but this will expedite the process.

The servicer offers Monroe Reflex shocks, but I had been kinda thinking Bilsteins, which I would have to order. What do you guys think? I would love some feed back from some people who own either one or both. Also, alternate suggestions are welcome. I actually had considered OME, but since I don't do any serious off-roading, I was concerned that might be overkill. This is my daily driver, as I said.

Thanks in advance!

I clicked on the link to the Edelbrock. The only LC I saw referenced was the 80, and there weren't any shocks listed for it. Am I missing something?

LCPhil,
I am glad to hear you liked them. The positive user feedback makes me lean more towards the Bilsteins.

If you want some crappy shocks that stink out of the box, and will be completely shot by the time they have 50k miles on them buy some monroe's.

If you want a quality shock (digressive valving, shim stacks, etc.) that will likely outlast the truck, get Bilsteins.

If you want an inexpensive shock, get the Factory Tokico's. Toyota sells them incredibly cheap ($25 each) and they are far superior to the Monroe's. They are actually a decent shock.

My belief is if you are spending the money on the labor, spring the extra money for the Bilsteins.

Without question the Bilsteins. I just recently had some put on my 2000 LC and I am amazed at the improvement in ride quality. No sloppiness when going around curves etc. They are worth it.

ditto on the Bilsteins. Buy a 7/8 ratcheting wrench, take a valium, and install them yourself.

i have monroes on my 2000 and I WISH i had left the OEM's on. get OEM or bilsteins. billies will make it stiff, so if you go over alot of bumpy roads you may want to stay with oem.

Agree!!! i used the old man emu before i changed to bilstein. and i noticed the stiffness. but much stable and lesser body roll.:grinpimp:
